Problems running ET

(Outcast) #1

Hello, I’m having some serious problems running Enemy Territory on my PC, the problem is that every time the indicator led on the computer lights up (and it lights up quite frequently), I get a absurd FPS drop, the game practicly frezes for a sec or two.

My system specs are:
P3 1Ghz
265MB SDRAM (133Mhz)
PNY GeForce FX 5200 128MB >>Running latest detonator drivers
Windowx Xp pro

The game is unplayable…but then, when I run it on my dad’s laptop (P4 2.5Ghz, 1GB RAM, Geforce4 Go 32MB) the game runs flawlessy at a constant 50-60 fps

Does anyone have any idea if it’s possible to fix this?? :???: :???:

I assume you mean the HDD LED…

Setting the virtual memory to a fixed size (at least 500 MB) might help a bit, but ultimately you need more RAM.

The led light is the harddrive. Probably using the harddrive as virtual memory. That’s why it flickers alot. Closing down other programs (including anti-virus programs) can help free up regular memory. Adding 256mb (512mb total) would really help the situation.

Thanks…I thought it might have been the RAM…problem is I just bought the gfx card thinking that it would solve the prob (I used to have a TNT2 32 MB :disgust: )
So I’ll have to save up a bit to buy 256MB of Ram…

Wierd thing is that games like Call of Duty and Halo run pretty mutch perfectly :stuck_out_tongue:
