Problem i may need help with.

ok so here’s the deal.

i got this game for christmas and installed it and it worked great.

but i tried playing it earlier today and after the intro movie it didn’t show the profile log in menu, all it showed was the replay and credits button along with “game experience may change durring online play” and a bunch of flying space ships, it doesn’t show any of the options menu’s at the top at all.

i figured it was just a problem that could easily be fixed by uninstalling and then re-installing so i did that.

it showed the create profile thing so i typed in a name for an offline only account and then hit enter and it went off and showed the same stuff as mentioned above.

any chance anyone has any ideas to what’s wrong?

you need to create a profile for online use, which requires you to input your CD key that was on the back of the instruction manual when you bought it.

i can’t create an online profile…the create profile menu isn’t there when i start the game…

When the game loads up go to the top right corner and click CHANGE USER then when it asks you to confirm logging off click OK.

Then click CREATE USER and create a profile for online use.

there is NO options up on the top screen…the only options are the “replay” and “credits” options.

do you see the things I circled? on the far left it says PLAY ONLINE and on the far right it says CHANGE USER and QUIT

yes i see where you circled, that’s not my problem i know how to log on and how to manage the options, the problem is that those menu’s aren’t there, as in all the stuff that’s supposed to be on the top screen when the game loads up is gone.

the absolute ONLY options i have on the screen are “replay” and “credits”

i’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and it took me to the create profile thing and i typed in a username then everything disappears and i can’t do anything else.

take a screenshot of your profile creation screen and paste it here

i just tried that but when i pasted it to Paint so i could transfer it from a flashdrive to this computer (the only one in the house that has internet since we have dial up currently)

and when i pasted it, it showed all the options at the top of the screen but when i loaded the game back up they weren’t there so i took another screen shot and tried pasting again and got the same thing.

so the options are there for the screenshot but not when you happen to want to click on them? weird. try windowing quake wars to see if they are getting cut off at the top of the screen.

right click on your etqw shortcut on your desktop, go to properties, go to the target line and change it from this: “C:\Program Files\id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars\etqw.exe”

to this
“C:\Program Files\id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars\etqw.exe” +set r_fullscreen 0

essentially you are adding +set r_fullscreen 0 after the last quotation mark. that should start up etqw in windowed mode and let you see the true top of the screen.

ok i tried it and it worked.

and i believe i figured out the problem…my screen resolution must be set wrong so that it doesn’t show the options up on top XD

cause i had recently gotten a new screen for my PC because the other one got a big crack down the middle and the new one is smaller highth wise then the other one.

lol ok, i’ll try and check them out sometime.

might be a while since i don’t have high speed on my computer and it’s not really much of a gaming PC, that…and it’s like…three or four years old XD

any chance there’s some neat weapon/character mods i could get though?

We run a public custom map server that contains 24 custom maps for ETQW as well as two mods: etqwpro and tactical assault. There are also Duskmod, Bracemod and a few others floating around. Just look for TAW Public Custom Map servers, try to connect and you will automatically download everything you need right through the game, no tricky manual installation required. Although it will be about 800mb so I suggest if you have a slow internet to do it while you sleep.

fyi, weapon and character models are the same for everyone, unless you write a mod that changes them for everyone on the server.
This is to prevent abuse of people using ultravisible models.
As far as I know noone has created a mod that uses altered weapon/player models, the first full conversion mod we’re looking at is probably tribal wars.
