Problem connecting to servers PLS help!

Hi ppl!
Almost everytime I try to connect to an ET server using the ET ingame serverlist or HLSW i have the same problem. When the game says “awaiting gamestate” it just does not go on. It watis and waits and i never get to join a server. I tried all kinds of servers all with different settings. my punkbuster is on, etc…
it happend a few time that i was able to join a game but when there is a mapchange, the new map loads and all i see is grey and my HUD. i can hear all other players shooting and dying etc and i can read whats happening in the console but i cannot participate on the new map cause all i see is a grey background.

if you have ideas what might be causing it please reply. i am desperate to play et again :wink:

It’s possible that you have downloaded pk3 files that are messing up your ET client. Either delete those files from your etmain directory (be sure you don’t accidentally pk3 files belongng to the game itself) and then try again. Alternatively, back up your config file, uninstall ET, reinstall and apply the patch.

i did reinstall et after i reinstalled win2k and applied teh 1.01 patch… it did not work. then i applied 1.02 patch when it came out, didnt solve it either. i did not download anything else so far…

could it be my router? but then, i have no problems with other games like quake or halflife to play online or diablo 2 etc… all that works fine

I think it may be server-related Talla. I can connect right up to some servers, and with other servers I’m awaiting gamestate for up to 2 minutes before anything happens.

Try telling the admin of the server you play on… and see if you are getting any packetloss from that server.
