Give it the same wind up whine too
That sound still freaks the hell out of me.
Pretty good but needs RPGs
I don’t like the RPG because this game is focused on infantry (They are obviously OP for this type of gameplay) allthough it would be good for the EV.
Right now explosive weapons does team damage (friendly fire) the RPG fall under this category, if they will be use indoors against infantry then #yolo #fml teammates
All weapons should do team damage! It’s only a problem if we can’t tell friend from foe and/or have guns that control like a hose pipe.
The panzer had great power, and with that came great responsibility
aye +1 for the rtcw pf - the W:ET variant had so little splash damage (ironically) that it was kinda pointless. Seems a common theme, take something that works and neuter it in the name of balance only to make it useless and/or a lot less fun.
limit the recharge time so shots have to count, but make the damage worthwhile - seems like a reasonable trade off, along with the usual speed penalty when carrying it. also i’d probably go with arc trajectory.
why you say no to more weapon variety?
i sure as hell hope that there will be projectile based weapons. otherwise i would be really disappointed.
Definately no RTCW panzers here. They will obviously need to be limited to 1 player per side immediately and I don’t think that’s good for the game. Then there’s also the fact that it requires very little skill to get multikills. You just shoot it in a room and everyone dies.
Some properly balanced version might work of course and there’s been some good suggestions already here:
- does more damage to EV and turrets
- needs to hit the player or just has a pretty small splash radius so multikills are still a possibility
- slower projectile speed so dodging might be possible
- maybe limited ammo that can’t be resupplied with fops ammo packs like grenades are now
Wouldn’t a small splash damage panzer be even more annoying? The original worked well due to limitations it imposed - very slow movement, rate of fire and draw speed - as much as it’s power, and was all about holding on and waiting for that right moment. Give someone a localised rocket launcher and we will be getting noob tube 1 vs 1 kills as that’s all it will be good for. And shooting a huge slow moving vehicle, which sounds really exciting
What was great about the panzer was it allowed a single person to hold flanking routes and bottlenecks single handedly. Not for long, but enough to knock the momentum out of a push and give the defence time to adjust. Does anyone remember defending on Village before the flag was capped - covering the tavern door while the panzer held up in the broken house side route? That wouldn’t have worked with a panzer with low splash damage.
Definitly for scrims/matches but I’m not so sure about this for casual/pub
Responsibility is a “relative concept”: kill the enemy no matter if you wipe your whole team… and I don’t mean if they are at the object :o
The rocket soldier is needed to force teams into split attacks instead of clumping up into an SC2 death ball.
It puts a greater emphasis on combat skill, indirectly.
btw im thinking in terms of comp play, where there are weapon limits
Ehhh, I think I heard in one of the videos made by SD that RPG’s will be available as a single-shot, single-use weapon that can only be unlocked by experience during a match …

It requires no skill? That depends on your secondary weapon… If you only have a pistol besdies your RPG like in ET/RTCW you will have to get into that room first, which is not easy in competitive matches + you have to time it correctly. If it was so easy to kill the whole team with a panzer as you say, alot more people would use the panzer in ET.
ET panzer wasn’t as good as the RTCW version. Some clans used it and some didn’t. Maybe it was more balanced then.
Panzer/Rocket Launcher would be great for damaging the EV. Smaller damage radius but good bang on what it does hit seems good trade off. Being able to damage EV faster and up EV speed a little.
ETQW style would be great for long range death on foes clustered together around objectives., vehicles, indoor choke points, outdoor choke points, etc.
They should certainly be more than an earned one time use weapon too. Standard soldier class loadout just like always. That’s my take on it.
or a proper AT rocket that does more damage to vehicles, this is separate from the soldiers panzer he unlocks later so this would mean this AT rocket would have bugger all splash damage naturally you could still have it gib players if it direct hits just means it wouldn’t be used primary for spawn camping, now your thinking well this makes the solder useless for maps without ev’s, that is why we have different loadouts. If this is unreadable its because I’m fairly hammered so I’ll recheck it sometime tomorrow
