Why Heavy MGs are getting a friggen recoil reduce and damage buff is beyond me. As if they are part of any problem or need for a upgrade.
Prepair for the Heavys.
I play heavy with a HMG (usually gotlung) (mostly to defy the carb-9 light-body “cheapsters”) and it is much needed to balance the heavy’s immobility and inconsiderable health boost! At any range you could get mowed down, even the lethally accurate SMG fire (lol) took you out (large spread from noob sprayers happily absorbed by your hulking frame as a heavy). So you are less mobile, larger, slower, and then your gun was underpowered. That is why.
Exactly the problem: lights can and still pepper you with (relatively much more accurate, high damage) SMG fire!
Ahm lovin mah hevehh!
Edit.
Apart from the fact my lard butt is a nice target to snipe from across the map on security tower! I’m also useless on the resort planting explosives on the pillar. Plus it takes forever to huff and puff my way to it!
There were far too few heavies running around. They needed to do something about the bodytype balance.
Ideally (IMO) there should be 2 or 3 lights, 2 heavies, and 3 or 4 mediums per team. That way you have your damage soakers/dealers, you have your scouty/mobility and you have a core of dependables.
This is a good change.
Diversity is the name of the game here…its worth playing as heavy to play a different style. does everything have to be about choosing the best dude? what about a change of pace and making it work?
Nonsense. Teams can be of any composition, it’s just that the game favouring lights meant that you still ended up seeing the same mixture of lights and mediums with the odd heavy.
I really hope this mixes things up. Would be great to see six heavies on a team for once.
So let me get this straight, they finally opt to make heavy weapons…HEAVY…as in damage wise…and now people are complaining about Heavies potentially being used more. Whereas as it stands now you rarely see user playing as a heavy? People will find anything to complain about. Now Heavies will have the chance to knock guys back and rip them to shreds…which is how it was supposed to be in the 1st place. There’s no way in logical hell that the Carb-9 and Euston were supposed to do more damage then the Maximus and Gotlung. After the update, the won’t anymore. And you Carb-9 spammers will have to think twice about taking on an oncoming Heavy. I love the fact that heavy weapons are getting a damage and accuracy buff. They’re supposed to be the battle tanks of Brink, now they’ll finally hit like tanks should hit. Imagine a trio of heavy Engi’s, all with Gotlungs and Gattling turrets defending the storage depot door on Refuel. Might not be a more scarier sight in Brink, and that’s how it’s supposed to be.
Im pretty good with a heavy NOW (360) but I can’t wait for the update. I agree tanks should be tanks not fat SUV’s.

Did they already patch the heavy weapons? I only ask b/c I haven’t played since last Monday and was still laughing at the people using heavy weapons. I still can’t believe they allowed the heavy weapons to pass testing playing the way they did at release given how terrible they were.
chinzor was already pretty good, now just await me with my shielded chinzor
Haha, chinzor is the best because it’s basically a smg with a big clip. Heavies really needed a buff, the loss of mobility is a much bigger weakness than any negligible health increase you get (is it 2 bullets?).
If being a heavy puts you at a disadvantage right off the bat, which it does, the heavy weapons should be some of the best in the game, at least for their intended situational use, I’m not saying the gotlung should be able to kill guys across the whole map.

I don’t want every weapon to be unstoppable, I just want them to be the best for what they’re intended (i.e. if a light runs smack into a heavy at close range, the light is going down). If I remember right, they said they still might look into buffing the heavy’s health.
edit:
Added body type health to Netvars for future tweaking
It wasn’t heavy-specific, but still worth noting.
