updated Walmart options to reflect the new shipping option.
Preorder deals and bonuses (updated)
Hoping their “preorder promise” applies to pre-orders placed before they announced it. Might have to check with them.
I think it would apply to all preorders but a call won’t hurt. I was waiting for either Walmart or Amazon to get release day delivery active before I preordered. I am just waiting until the end of the week to see if Amazon matches them now. If not I will be going with Walmart.
Preordered from both. Amazon ended up being a few dollars cheaper, since the game was $3 off and the shipping is free.
Brink is NOT on Amazon’s current Release Date Delivery list. Also, release date delivery apparently costs $.99.
Amazon customer service says they will not put Brink on the “release date delivery” list until they get confirmation from their distributor that they will have copies early enough to get to their customers for the release date. It could still happen but as of right now Walmart is the only option with release day delivery of box copies.
The Amazon preorder bonus and $10 gift card disappeared this morning, which is kind of unusual. I don’t know why they would stop listing it, normally the preorder deals run up to launch day for them.
Maybe they aren’t getting enough copies of the game to meet all current pre-orders on release day?
Brink selling so well that preorder bonuses dry up would be a good thing, it still seems unusual to me though.
I’ve never ever heard of a game running out of preorders. At least not the regular version. The halo legendary version usually sold out though.
One would think that they would be able to order more, especially since they still have 45 days.
Or maybe there was a finite number of DLC codes, though that also seems highly improbable. But it is definitely gone. There are two posts in the customer discussion thread asking about it.
Or maybe someone accidentally erased it when they updated the ESRB rating??
The Amazon preorder bonus and $10 gift card disappeared this morning, which is kind of unusual. I don’t know why they would stop listing it, normally the preorder deals run up to launch day for them.
At least it’s still on for the PC Version.
I just got off the phone with Walmart and they wont guarantee the game will be here on release day even though it says “preorder promise: guaranteed delivery on release day” right on the page for the game. It shows delivery for the 24th-26th on checkout, which isn’t going to cut it. They said that is what they will have to go by and what I will have to accept if I ordered through them.
I then spent about 10 minutes trying to get them to understand how dumb it is that their “guaranteed” Release Day Delivery doesn’t mean “delivery on release day” and trying to figure out what their Preorder Promise was since they actually aren’t even trying to deliver on that promise. I’ll probably call them and harass them again later in the week but right now I don’t even think I am going to bother to preorder with the way Amazon and Walmart have been in flux. Saving $10 and getting a couple ingame items won’t matter if I have to wait 8 days after the game releases to get it here.
I am just completely confounded by how ridiculous the last 20 minutes on the phone was. I just can’t even wrap my head around it.
Did you speak with multiple customer service reps? That sounds exceedingly stupid, even for WalMart’s lowest common denominator standards. I guess I might make that phone call in the near future as well.
I got put on hold for her to do the checking for me and by the time the call was over I didn’t have the patience to try to explain the situation to anyone else. I just couldn’t get an answer as to what the “promise” was if even though it is right on the page we were both looking at as soon as I put it in my cart it fails to exist.
I will give them a call later in the week and seek better info, and if I can’t get it I will try to get my call escalated until I reach someone with a reasonable answer or comprehension that May 25th is not the same day as May 17th and their “guarantee” meant nothing at all.
Maawdawg - I was all down from ordering from Walmart (even though I personally try to do as little business with them as possible) for the Spec Ops pack until I found out no in store pre-order pick up and their delivery schedule.
Maybe it will be clarified for the better closer to release
Here is the response I got from Walmart this morning in my email.
"Thank you for contacting Walmart.com regarding your pre-order inquiry.
As specified on the Walmart.com item page, Brink is being sold as a preorder. The release date for this item is 5-17-2011. We will ship the item to you promptly after it has been released. Your credit card will not be billed until the item is shipped. I’m sorry for the inconvenience but we ship our items on the release date and not before the date.
If we have not fully answered your question or you have additional questions, please reply to this email.
Sincerely,
Walmart.com Customer Care"
If you ordered from Walmart I would get on the phone or contact customer support because you aren’t getting it delivered until their estimated date of (5/24-5/26) because their “guaranteed home delivery on game release date” listed on their site isn’t going to happen as they more or less say right in that email they have no intention of even honoring that “preorder promise” listed on the site.
I have a reply email out to call them on how their promise means nothing and the “home delivery on release date” is false advertising because they have no intent to actually deliver on that date. I will be calling them again when I get bored this afternoon, if I get a reply I will post it here.
where is that from?
nvm: used the photo link to backtrack it. Added to the OP.
