Pre-order Bonus, why don't let them become free?

(Kurushi) #21
No one paid for them >_>.

They were free bonuses for preorder at certain locations.

Everybody still paid the same price for the game.
There’s not really such a thing as free and no the prices varied quite a lot between the bonus editions and the standard. I “paid” £5 more for my copy to get 2 pre-order bonsues. You could say I just paid more for the game, but c’mon, we all know they weren’t free

(Hot-Wire) #22

I paid 59.99 for Brink (Plus tax). That’s how much Brink, the game cost at release. I got the bonus codes without any additional fee.

It was free.

All this **** aside yes they are for people who pre ordered but alot of us preorder=Gamestop and other places and only got skins for stuff already in the game but thats all we could get. It seems since certain people have the free money to buy more than one copy for items that should have been for everyone =the dlc guns and scope, but instead making people pay for it or not releasing it is just stupid i dont care who you are.

Its unfair really. Since the game is rated T and most of the people playing this game dont have Credit cards to order the game from Amazon and such…Why have just skins in one dlc pack but weapons and items in another?? Hell they could have put a gun in the doom pack for people getting it from gamestop but they didnt. Long story short for everyone saying since i got mine from launch alot of us did and we didnt have access to the greeneye or the ceasar and such we should have access to these items seeing as how the green eye gives an advantage and another gun that may be pretty good.

Alowing others to get these items is a good idea. It may even bring people back who left because they couldnt get some of these items(if they did they are stupid).
Did not see any sort of agreement, since I got the code from buying Killzone 3, nor did I sign or agree upon anything before receiving it.

the beta code was a “preorder” incentive to pick up Killzone 3, so what say you?
not seeing the agreement doesn’t mean that you’re not subject to it’s regulations. you basically agreed when you received the game/code. betas are generally distributed with the understanding that they will not be sold or transferred (although no one really seems to care about the transfer, but clearly someone (i.e. the VeRO cared about the sale))

Also, did you take the tutorial that Ebay sent you? Your auction was a take down by a VeRO which which means a Verified Rights Owner filed the complaint. which means the actual owner of the property you were selling on Ebay is the one that stopped it.

Pre-Order DLC has no VeRO which is why you can go on ebay and buy all sorts of DLC codes. Ebay’s only beef with selling DLC is when people email the codes and dont send the cards (and then, it takes another seller’s complaint to stop it)

Well the VeRO is still at fault for not supplying sufficient information on the card itself. Not everyone (including me) would be surfing the internet to figure if the information on this piece of paper was legal or not. This was relevant of the pages upon pages of socom codes being sold on the day I listed mine, because to us, it was a preorder incentive and we gained ownership of the code itself to access a beta owned by the VeRO.

(thesuzukimethod) #26

Yeah dude - it’s murky. they bury that stuff…it probably wasnt anywhere in the packaging, but some link somewhere that you’d never see unless you searched for it…and then you get the legal hammer email. lame.

I’ve seen people list codes as “limited edition mini card collectible” (i.e. a code card), and that still gets pulled…so someone must be watching. (i wish they’d spend that time working on the games…lol)

(MrFoxer) #27

They shouldn’t be free, they should just be available to all as a paid dlc.

(Hot-Wire) #28

I agree either way. I just want them to be available :).

(taodemon) #29

I wouldn’t mind them being available as additional DLC for a small price, though I already have all but the doom pack on PC. One I got off ebay and another from someone posting on the forums saying he had a pc code he had no use for and wanting to be gifted some low cost steam games for it and spec ops from the steam preorder.

(felismenari) #30

Would be nice, but I doubt the pre-order incentives will stop coming. My only grip about the pre-orders for Brink is the Greeneye scope. It has an actual effect on gameplay, unlike the reskins and extra clothing items. Being that this is a multiplayer, PvP oriented game, the fact that the Greeneye scope is a preorder bonus gives players a potential gameplay advantage over those that do not have it. This is a bad, bad thing.

(Hdserialkiller) #31

Thats because u were prolly trying to make money on the resistance beta. Gotta watch how u word ur auctions.

(Sand0kan) #32

I don’t think it’s fair anyway. I paid 50 euros for brink when is came out with no dlcs (It’s not the problem I am glad to support the game since the begining), but now you can have it for 8 gbp (see the link before) with two bonus contents and you expect me to pay more?

The saddest thing about this game in my opinion, is how the marketing strategy influence the gameplay. If you have cosmetics bonus only for pre-ordered the game, I will be fine and wouldn’t care. But in this case you have exclusive weapons and attachment (in the case of the greeneye, it give to you a advantage), for buying the game on a certain marketplace which make publicity for the seller. It’s realy sad for a great multiplayer game as Brink

ps: sorry again for my english

But I bet it was cheaper at other places that didn’t have the codes so it depends how you look at it. They may have tricked you but there’s no such thing as free

(Hot-Wire) #34

Nope, normal retail price was 59.99 like “most” video games on consoles.

Kmart had no preorder bonus and they sold it at the same price as well.

(Codine) #35

If Brink releases the preorder bonuses as dlc I’ll be very upset with them. I went out of my way to preorder Brink from gamestop just to get the Doom pack.

(Hot-Wire) #36

… You don’t hear that everyday.

(Kurushi) #37

Well on the PC there was a big price difference between versions with pre-order bonuses. Prices will still vary on the consoles, just not half as much. Like I say, it depends how you look at it. No such thing as free

(Hot-Wire) #38

Prices vary now, because everyone is having their individual sale on the game… but at release it was all the same price. … well Walmart had it a penny cheaper I bet, but relatively the same.

No one would be forcing you to buy the dlc.

(Kurushi) #40

Console’s a different kettle of fish. Games are so expensive in the first place I suppose they do look more ‘free’ if that’seven possible

edit: region can play a big part too. Prices are very competitive over here
