Anyone know how to get ET to run thru this program (it connects pc2 to pc1 which has the cable modem).
Have tried everything to get ET to run from the client, disabled firewall, disabled punkbuster, all no good.
I can access the net from both machines fine but can’t do online ET at all.
Any clever bastards like Reyalp got a clue ?

and the try connecting by just using the IP…
(you want one to be server/client and the other just client right?)
I don’t want to play on both at the same time just let PC 2 use PC 1s cable modem to connect and play on it’s own.
How are the computers connected? If it’s your typical LAN, then it sounds like the problem is just that PPPshar is just a dumb HTTP Proxy and doesn’t share any other types of connections.
Have you tried Internet Connection Sharing (ICS, in Windows) or IP masquerading (Linux)?
Its a regular two NIC cards connected via CAT 5e and the on board NIC in the host connecting to the cable modem#
The reason I am using PPPshar is because windows ICS, well I just couldn’t get the bugger to go at all, all the TCP/IP was all set up fine and dandy, I was pinging from pc to pc in a command prompt but regards the internet no joy until I installed that handy little program.
I think you are right though it is a dumb proxy but I do believe I have the ability to edit files to configure others.
I have set up the host as 192.168.0.1 and the client as 192.168.0.2 (the regular sorta deal). PPPshar needs only to be installed on the host machine and the internet connection is fine for both machines.
Right what is the ET master servers IP then hmmmmmmm, might have to dissect pathfinder.

Can you ping the ET master (or anything else on the internet, for that matter) from pc2 ?
I’ve always used linux boxes for my connection sharing needs, but that it probably a world of hurt that you don’t want to get into right now. You can get one of those dumb-as-a-brick internet sharing router thingies dirt cheap these days.
It looks like you need pppshar pro to do more than just http proxy.
Windows ICS should work too…

Don’t forget to set right dns servers on 2nd host (the one with no modem) .
Yeah you’re right reyalP ICS should work, what concerns me is that when I’m installing Win XP Pro from CD (nice new formatted C drive the lot) it has no idea what my nforce2 onboard NIC is, as the hardware was released well after XP. Hence when the setup is complete there’s no internet connection setup so also the “I’m the internet host for other connected computers” stuff can’t be in properly (at least) either, until I load the nforce drivers manually. So I’m downloading and “evaluating” Win XP Pro with SP1 integrated from Bit torrent (just wondering now also does XPSP1 have an idea what the nforce NIC is, hmmmm, I’ve seen a Win XP Pro with SP2(beta) mentioned somewhere in the land of “evaluation”). Oh yeah I can ping from PC2, say the ONE server, no prob there just the regular shitty ping :???: .

Weirder than weird, my xpsp1 integrated win xp pro corp “evaluation” CD, load onto both host and client, I set up ICS both machines talked to each other, told the client what the default gateway was for internet access and it worked. Not only that but ET decided it wasgonna work too.
I dunno what happened there, I did NOTHING different at all, same protocols same hardware, same friggin’ everything apart from a different XP CD and a bit less noise from the 10 week old daughters.
One of those things I suppose. Ah well I’m happy now and thanks to all of you for your input except reyalP who is, always has been and probably always will be a grade A cunt of the highest order, but I suppose he’s OUR cunt though isn’t he.
