Potential weapons in Brink

(NigelDocker) #1

Brink being the game it is would really suit and could do with different weapons, not just the same old boring guns like in any other fps, considering Brink is trying to be as origional as possible, bring something new to the fps genre and takes place in 2045 its suprizing they didn’t choose any neat unusual weapons that would suit Brink being cartoony and work well within the game, but just standard military guns that are in all fps games.
List what weapons you think would be good in Brink

List for SD potentially ideas that WE want (or dream) for Brink if not Brink 2;

-A type of Crossbow
-Throwing knifes
-Ninja stars
-Some form of darts (a shot of spread darts, or a single shot longer range dart using some sort of air gun)
-Catapult/Slingshot
-Machete
-Nun chuks/Knife chuks lol
-A mine or grenade that has not blast/detonation damage but lets off a wide spread of spikes/bearings
-A flamethrower, instead of projecting fire it could project a corrosive steam
-Gas greanade
-Barbed wire you put or throw down similar to caltrop grenades, or you put waist hight from each side of the wall in a corridor or small space
-A Tazer of some sort, or a projectile tazer that gets shot from close range.
-Katana Sword
-Add a new gun/s with a wider range of looks and characteristics, more ‘slick’ looking [different looking stocks/barrel’s]

Suggestions;

-Metal weapons such as Ninja stars could be rugged and rusty for Ressistance and new and shiney for Security
-Ninja stars or throwing knifes could only be available to the Operative only
-Crossbow bolts or Darts could have some form of poison added to them by a Buff from an Operative
-Catapault/Slingshot could have a small sticky bomb projectile
-A Mechete could be taken place for the secondary weapon and 1 slice kill, could also be heavy only
-Metal weapons such as knifes/mechete could be rusty and bound in tape and straps for ressistance, and new and shiney for securiy
-Nun chuks/Knife chuks could be availible to operative or light only and 1 hit kill
-Any 1 hit 1 kill weapons could cost an ability and take place for your secondary weapon
-An Operative could give a buff, dipping the teammates knife, bayonet or other bladed weapon in poison. A hit either does more damage or continues to suck life over time, before dissipating.
-If a team mate is poisoned, a medic could take the poison away by buffing their health.
-Operatives could stick wirless device’s to team mates and when in range increase the time it takes to hack an objective, it could take up and cost an ability
-The tazer weapon could not give damage but knock the player down sending him into spazm [as apposed to just getting knocked down, and for slightly longer as apposed to a grenade launcher due to no hit damage]
-Katana Sword could be availible to Medium only and 1 hit 1 kill
-Make it so you can customize the stocks/buts and barrels on the guns as they are all quite similare as they are

I can definitely see this thread going places and inspiring some more ideas.

(NigelDocker) #3

Tried to do them all, cant find or think of any more

(Ultima) #4

I think you made a pretty good list of all the ideas so far.

(Bittermetal) #5

Great work. I think you compiled all our ideas here.

I did have an idea in another thread as well about a different buff for the Operative. Toss out adhesive wifi adapters on teammates. Then when they are in range they will boost the speed and/or the signal strength of Operative hacks. The signal/speed reduces incrementally as the teammates die or move out of range.

And below this was a variation to the poison tipped thing they could implement right now with the knives currently in-game

–Its all there already too. operative could give a buff…basically dipping the teammates knife, bayonet or other bladed weapon du jour, in poison. A swipe either does more damage or continues to suck life over time, before dissipating.—

Great work NigelD

Yeh thats a good 1, realistic idea 2, could give the operative more power. Btw any1 reading these arent my ideas incase you thought i came up with them all lol

I like that. Two ideas for Operative buffs and a Hacking solution as well. I think both of these would help a lot and would easily blend into the game. I can especially see this if they keep adding level caps, because how else are you gonna unlock these abilities right?

(kombat wombat) #8

love all the ideas. we can only hope they get put into the game.

Atachments and buffs for turrets. If they count as weapons!

A mine that has a large area of effect but not not harm the person triggering it. Perhaps a kind of circular claymore mine spitting out ball bearings 360 degrees?

+1 for honor and nobility.

Yeah, I would like to see maybe health buffs for turrets, I guess in game it would be called Turret Upgrade or something. I like your mine idea too, they could actually have multiple forms of mines, and you just choose what you like best.

Edit: Saying that, since it looks like Pyro Mine will be a whole different ability as opposed to an upgrade, maybe all kinds of different mine abilities, and you just set which ability best suits you.

(NigelDocker) #12

You came up with most of them lol

Yup yup bump bump. I second that one!

I dont think a buff for turrets is ideal as they are an ability themselves an need to be equal to other abilities, The mine sounds good though, could be that type of grenade too, maybe with spikes

I would love for Eng to give weapon upgrade buff to turrets as well. And Soldiers could give turrets the armor piecing bullets.

Add more shielding to a turret could help to or upgrade to armor plating. Detractor could be it pans slower or locks slower. But many have already complained it too slow now…so maybe someone has a better detractor for the armor plating on turret. Hammer hammer tink tink weld weld time to outfit the turret could be the detractor. Just takes a while to get all armored up.

(Bittermetal) #16

So balancing would have to go into turret buffs. for sure. But not altogether impossible.

(NigelDocker) #17

I dont no, i think if your working as a team and an operative uses your turret as remote control it can be very powerfull as it is

(Bittermetal) #18

This is definitely true. But I understand people wanting more out of their turret. I don’t mind. I can play around the buffed up turret.

Remember one of the new abilities coming in the DLC is to be able to see which buffs your enemies have active so you can be more strategic on who you attack and how. This could apply to buffed up turrets too so you know what you’re getting into.

Plus all that buffing takes valuable time. Plenty time to be shanked by a rusty machete or perforated with a couple poison tipped arrows

(79of96) #19

Good and interesting ideas!

But, what about some kind of home-made flamethrower? Maybe too TF2?

(Je T´aime) #20

Personally more weapons the better, i would like to see more “real” inspired weapons like the ak 47 and etc D :
