Potential weapons in Brink
Good and interesting ideas!

But, what about some kind of home-made flamethrower? Maybe too TF2?
Maybe. Maybe not. Not sure if people are standing around enough for a good blast from a flame thrower. It’s hardly used to great effect in BLOPS. And I catch a ton of people standing around in that game.

As for real-world weapons like AK. I think I’ve seen enough AKs in games. You cant walk into a game store without tripping over 10 games with AKs in them. And still I never felt a better AK than in CS.

I think if resources are limited, it would be a huge waste. But if not. Go nutz! I just wouldn’t use it much. I want my bladed throwing weapons. i think they fit the theme better.

Hey Isn’t Nachev being poisoned by a neuro-toxin? Works great and fits perfectly with our poison tipped blades’ ideas. “Operative has synthesized the neuro-toxin producing various affects.”

Maybe it could be a good upgrade for Engineers Turrets? With like a flame thrower attachment with some periodical damage.

Lol this reminds me i play a hl2 mod named fortress forever its kinda like tf2 but anyway the spy there have a gas grenade that makes a green cloud and if the enemy enters in contact with that area he can´t see the diference between enemys and teammates because they all will look the same with that gas grenade for like 10 seconds or so. And also you health will look lower then what it is in the reality and you vision gets distorted too : D

(Zarel) #25

I experienced that on the first(second? I think HL’s TF is the second one) Team Fortress! The weird personal effect of the weapon is both terrifying and funny to have. Sudenly hearing gunshots, fire suddenly appears all over the place…Man, I would love to have that again.

Well, now that depends on who’s controlling it now doesn’t it.

I’ve been thinking flamethrowers since I got this game. I don’t think many people would use them though, but maybe if they were made good enough. I don’t want them in the game simply because they would look cool, they would, but having them in the game as only a ‘look cool’ weapon would be wasted potential. I think of them more as a secondary where, when the opportunity arises, such as a group of enemies defending the objective maybe, you can whip it out and stir things up. I could just think of the mayhem it could cause in terminal. This could also be bad as well though, giving the defending team more of an advantage so…

(Ultima) #28

I like that, but with the actual weapons. Maybe the flamethrower could be an attachment, like in the place of the Underslung Grenade Launcher. Actually, there could be a list of things they could do with that. How about this thread is just for all ideas(having to do with weapons, attachments and abilities)? Not just potential weapon ideas, but a mix of all the ideas we have that could potentially be added in Brink, it’s sort of become that anyways right?

Edit: Sorry for the tri-posts.

(NigelDocker) #29

I think already most of the weapons in Brink are inspired by real weapons, the Gerund is a real weapon basically looks the same and is called the same in Crysys, the Kross is an exact replica of a real weapon and is even in the trailer for some ogher games coming out. Ithink its already in some games.
Theres weapons like the lobster that Brink actually made up but does the exact same thing as a real mini grenade launcher.

I mean for a game thats trying to be cartoony, origional and different and bring something fresh and new to the fps genre it strikes me why they used just the same old boring standard military weapons like in all other games, specialy when Brink would suit these sorts of weapon

Whoops, looks like I posted this to the wrong thread:

I want my newb tube! Bring back the Rocket Launcher!

Ooo, and a nail gun would be nice (Quake style not ET:QW style).

EDIT: Oh, and since Bethesda is involved maybe SD could add a Fallout 3 style railway rifle? Pins enemies to the wall for a short duration (allowing them to fire but preventing them from moving).
Given that the game takes place in 2045, it would make sense for them to have some “future-tech” stuff – what about an Active Denial System for heavy body types? it could lower your accuracy or slow your movement, maybe even knock you down after the first couple seconds.

The thing you are forgetting is that although the game takes place in the future, they have lost contact with the rest of the world. There are no ships/supplies coming in or going out and resources are scarce, so much of the tech they have would be modern day.

(Jimmy James) #34

If they got Arkoral tech, I’m guessing they are quite a bit farther ahead than what we would consider modern day tech.

-JJ

EDIT: Of course! Arkoral based weaponry would be cool.

(Throbblefoot) #35

One drawback of ADS is that it affects all living creatures in its radius, so that could be a little brutal for teammates. Maybe good for hacking/building/blowing objectives though.

Hhmm dont know if you look everywhere around you on all the maps [except Container City] everything is futeristic the buildings and there are futuristic electronics everywhere, and on security your guns look brand new XD its like they’ve gone back in time.

God, i would spend so much hours perfecting these, i would probably be engrosed in it. I would be more than likely making a new game by end of summer holidays.

Firstly i want:

GUn with a barrel that isnt straight, similar to m16A2
A lower profile gun, all the AR’s are So DAMN TALL! AK-47

Hidden Blades: assassins creed, and the trailer.

ENVIRONMENT WEAPONS!

Drop trucks on people and stuff

Edit:w00t 2 stars!
