Potentailly this game would have at least delayed everyone's BF3 purchase, oh well.

I pre-ordered BF3 and UC3 the same day I pre-ordered Brink.

Hate to say it, because I love the game… but in late October/Early November, when those two titles hit my hands, my Brink time will take a significant hit.

why would anyone want to buy or even “reserve” battlefield3? serious question.

(SinDonor) #43

It’s got dinosaurs in it and I love dinosaurs.
why would anyone want to buy or even “reserve” battlefield3? serious question.
Well, if* a pre-ordered BF3 comes with a VIP code like BF:BC2 did… that’s more than enough reason, IMO.

*IF: I have no idea if it will, purely conjecture and completely void of research.

EDIT: Also, the dinosaurs thing ^^^

“Why would anyone want to buy or even “reserve” a game I don’t like derp derp etc etc.”

(peteXnasty) #46

Yea Frostbite 2 isn’t anything special at all, I mean its just a FPS…Doom did it first all those years ago, get your own ideas EA

(BioSnark) #47

Really not happy about bf3 mod support and engine supposedly being ‘too hard.’ Stupid dlc levels most likely.

(Zanchile) #48

lol, somewhat unrelated but i just found out ModernWarfare3.com redirects to Battlefield3.com and Modernwarfare4.comt was bough by a group holding a poll asking whether they should: A) give the domain to Activison in return for MW2 dedicated servers B) give it to EA C) make it a fansite or D) kill a clown.

Same here. UC3’s multiplayer alone will occupy much of my gaming time.

(Acorn1021) #51

It was a good game. But if you have played previous bf’s you would be dissapointed.

(Stormchild) #52

Why deciding now to buy BF3 or not ? Why not wait tests and demos ? They will pre-order with all these fancy ideas about the game in their mind, and a few glittering trailers, and then if they are disappointed they’ll come whining in the forums (dejà vu ?).

Don’t pre-order, just demand demos, and wait for the tests from your favorite magazine whose judgement you trust. Do it right !

(Acorn1021) #53

They have been making games for a long time now, and none of them disappoint (some dissapointed true bf fans). They probably will make a demo (like with bfbc2), and do something right, unlike SD.

(dazman76) #54

I’ll be buying BF3 (regardless of Brink), and I’m hoping it’s a return to the “proper” BF games of old. I loved BF1942 with the DC mod, BF2 was also pretty good. I lost interest a bit with Vietnam and didn’t like 2142 at all - and as I see it, the BC versions aren’t really true to the original games at all.

I could be wrong obviously, but I have plenty of faith that DICE can return to the quality they had with their earlier games  If they can actually produce a decent game teamed with those amazing visuals, I’ll be happy with the purchase  I doubt very much I’ll be using Origin though - I don’t really enjoy buying EA full stop to be honest, but I’ll make concessions for those rare occasions when they release something worth buying.

(Smoochy) #55

yes, they have dumbed some stuff down since bf2, but they will be making it less noob friendly than bc2.

also, give dice credit, the PC version will actually be different from the console versions. 40 more players per map! different maps etc. the PC version wont be limited by consoles, which is something more devs should look into. if every dev has to cater for 512megs of ram its holding back gaming immensely. fair enough, some people play fps on consoles (i never liked fps with a pad, and the mouse controllers are nowhere near as good as a proper pc mouse setup) but it shouldnt hold the whole industry back. people need to realise that consoles are vastly inferior to the power of a gaming rig.

anyway, stupid not to pre-order as you get some goodies by pre-ordering. you can always cancel it if the demo isnt what you want. i still think SD should have had a demo for this game. lots of people wont buy titles they cant play via demo.

you didnt like bf2142? how much did you play it? many people (including me) see it as superior to bf2. i would love to see bf2143

(Smoochy) #57

ive missed 64 player maps. small player counts are ok but nothing like the fun you get when your little squad meets up with 32 enemy players!

(wolfnemesis75) #58

Battlefield3…MW3… I pre-ordered Gears of War 3 FTW. I hoping Brink gets a 3 too. ha ha. suck it! X:tongue:

(St NickelStew) #59

But consoles are more profitable to develop for. I hope the BF3 PC players financially support BF3, otherwise this could be the last time DICE (or any other developer) do such a thing. BF3 is going to be an awesome game.

(Smoochy) #60

i think some devs want to push forward though. ubisoft has already said consoles are holding back gaming. gamers want more of everything and even when they came out they werent that powerful, now they seem archaic.

i have more powerful pc parts sat in drawers than are in either consoles. and nintendos wii2 is just a £300 cheap pc too
