Except we all know games never play out exactly as the trailers show, especially the pre rendered ones.
Potentailly this game would have at least delayed everyone's BF3 purchase, oh well.
EA announcing that BF3 was Origin only and there wouldn’t be a Steam release was enough to stop me from purchasing it, Brink had nothing to do with it.
Erm…
That’s not game play.
when and where did I say this was gamplay, I mean if this was gameplay it would kill every game!
Refusing to get a game because of a download manager is stupid, guess that’s your loss then.
Yup it is, but it’s my loss alone. Underlying thoughts also are that I was never into the BF series except BC2, but the lack of Steam support was the nail in the coffin for me, and forcing people onto Origin and alienating others who are loyal to Steam, or seriously don’t want to install another game manager is a mistake. EA being the king of DRM doesn’t sell Origin very well for me.
The fact it’s not game play makes the whole point moot.
DarkAngel, where did they say it’s Origin only? Does that mean it’s mandatory? I knew it wasn’t Steam but I was prepared to buy retail. If it needs Origin, it’s no buy for me too.

It’s not been confirmed that Origin is 100% necessary yet (It’s been speculated as much), but it has been confirmed that Steam is not listed as a digital distributor. Origin will apparently be selling limited edition versions only available on Origin with exclusive content.
Ah right, thanks. I knew it wasn’t going to be released on Steam but as long as they’re not trying to bully me into Origin I’m still up for the retail boxed edition.
As soon as they pull a ‘Origin required’ move, I’m out.
If you get just a boxed version, how would you get the updates for the game? Are those types of things not handled through some means like Steam or Origin? Just curious.
Funny that I should hear about this issue here on this forum rather than on the BF UK forums.
On topic: I had two copies of BF3 on pre-order before Brink released. One for my brother, one for me.
Wait a second… BF3 doesn’t come out for a few more months, regardless, so there is still a delay of purchase, technically, right?
BF fanboy detected
Yes, I’ve played em. BC2 medic revive trains suck; medic imbalance and poor weapon balancing ruined the comp scene before it even seemed to get started. Furthermore the game had major technical issues that took months to fix (sound familiar?). I have no faith in DICE when it comes to a competitive fps game.
Pretty sure he meant pre-order/day one sales since he talks about reserving it, more than once.

But nonetheless, BC2 is a very fun pub game. Yes, I am a fan. Would still be playing it as my only FPS if Brink had not come along, and will be returning to BF3 when it arrives.
Competitive games are no way to measure how good it is
BC2 with its flaws is still good and fun
EA and DICE are putting more into BF3 than you can imagine. They will not let it be anything less than a AAA title. The PC version is already twice the online game than the console as well as being 60 FPS with amazing visuals. It is built for the PC first, which is why it’s BF and not BC.
If I can throw down and say one game this year will destroy everything…it would be Skyrim. But BF3 is second! And after Brink im not sure I wanna give Bethesda more cash. I blame them foe Brink.
I can’t wait to tear around in a fighter jet again.
Like any team-based game, it can be very fun or very frustrating playing public games. I like it, too…but it took me just a few weeks after it came out to figure out it wasn’t going to be a game I took seriously (and because of that, for me it was a disappointment). I see no reason to believe BF3 won’t be more of the same, with even more console concessions this time around.
I am getting a little bit sick of hearing about battlefield 3, it’s just a game and it has nothing revolutionary. There hasn’t been a game for a while that is groundbreaking; im just saying it’s another first person shooter. Hate on me all you like, im entitled to my opinion.
Do battlefield fans count bc2 as a battlefield game? I quite disliked bc2 after having spent a couple years enjoying bf1942 and dc mod. I would say bc2 sucked and partly for reasons shared with brink sucking. poorly designed and poorly behaving interface, in-game socializing stripped back. Gameplay was fps on training wheels, snagging onto random bits of terrain, managing enemy spam. Unlock base abilities like they are your first baby toy… anyway, gunna get bf3 regardless but have no interest in mucking up the conversation by pitting it against mw3.
Frostbite 2 could be considered pretty revolutionary…I know the destructibility is the #1 reason I still enjoy BC2 from time to time.
“Hardcore” BF2 fans do not.
But BC2 says “Battlefield” on the cover.
/shrugs/
I am looking forward to BF3 and Skyrim. With apologies to SD, that is likely about when I will play their game much less.
