I checked out the Price of Peace website, looks pretty good. They list a release date of last Thursday. Is this downloadable yet? Free? Looks like it will include all the additional weapons people keep whining about. Anyone got it yet?

There’s a thread on the general discussion page "Moved: Price of Peace moves to Wolf:ET. If you follow the links you get to a website describing what sounds like a massive ET mod, using the open source code. Apparently they tried making a game with the COD engine and gave up, switched to an ET based engine. They are obviously highly familiar with ET and seem intent on improving it. This has got to be good news, and I can’t believe I’m the only one tracking this. Some of the custom maps are great, but who wouldn’t like to see a full blown mod to ET with new campaigns, weapons, and (hopefully) a few of the bugs worked out.

That “Thursday” date was for a first release for CoD that eventually didn’t happen due to scripting issues. By the time we’d fixed it, Infinity Ward had screwed us completely with a patch that made a lot of what we had done useless and impossible to repair. When we asked for help, it was one of the VERY FEW times they actually responded, and the response was like “Oh, yeah, that won’t work now”… And that was it! No hint as to a way round it at all. That’s when our decision was made that we were definitely going to move.

they actually TOLD us they were going to help us fix it, then they rescinded that lol.

whereas sock, fluffy_gimp, rr2do2, and digibob have been extremely helpful to us already  props to SD!

they are nice people arent they  give them cookies!

(Ifurita) #8

I like them

I like the way they volunteer information.
I asked about player model formats, I got a reply from SD pretty quickly, then a couple of hours later, a document is posted about how to make them!

This level of support is one of the biggest reasons we chose ET.

Dime’s first reaction after installing the ET editing tools was something along the lines of “Woah! There’s documentation!!!”.

hey hey, IW gave documentation.

its about 200 words long tho :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, but when are you likely to release POP? Under what form, free download, paid download? Don’t keep us in suspense, what’s the deal? Personally, I would gladly pay for a really kick-ass upgrade to ET, but I’m sure a lot of people would expect to get it free, since Splash Damage gave away the game and source code. All these amazing custom maps floating around have created a hell of a high level of expectation. I wish you all the best in your project, and hope you can find a way to get paid for all your hard work!

mods have to be free under the terms of Activisions licence aggreement.

(Domipheus) #13

donations would be welcome tho i imagine :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(dime1622) #14

it will of course be free  were hopin to release something here in a month or two, but we really need that character model tool first

we ARE looking into getting into some sort of agreement w/ id as per the use of the engine and such, but its not a big priority.
