Just wondering about peoples opinions. I myself never play the single player story mode of a game and only play multiplayer…
Just these days games seem to be neglecting the multiplayer in favour of a good singleplayer, which makes me sad
Poll on story mode
How come stopwatch is only limited to id team shooters, and Splash damage made team shooters? How come no other team shooter has a stopwatch mode? Is stopwatch limited to id software’s engines?
From what has been said in interviews there is no real difference between storymode and other multiplayer modes in Brink except matchmaking and different map rotations.
I can see myself playing the campaign cooperatively with friends against real people!
I was under the impression that Left 4 Dead has something like Stopwatch mode? But I don’t know exactly, just played it once…
It’s the default for versus mode. One side playes as survivors till they die or finish the level, then it’s restarted with teams reversed. After this the game proceeds to next level.
Even for a multiplayer centred game i still think a single player campaign is needed.
ETQW was an amazing game but people did not buy it because they could not justify the cost for multiplayer only whereas ET was free so it did not matter.
I do not think it matters for Brink as Single/multi player and CO-OP are going to be combined which is great.
I will play multiplayer mostly, but when a game comes with sp, i might play it from time to time when i get bored.
I love a good single-player game with a good story, and I think that probably I play more of those than multiplayer games. However, I think I’m more interested in Brink for multiplayer than singleplayer, so I hope they really take their time to polish that part of the game.
I like the story behind every game… thus games like CS don’t appeal to me… Arena games are worse for me in that aspect (sorry Q3)…
so for me Singleplayer campaigns with a story is important… MP is important too, but for I cannot play online, I’ll have to settle with SP
I reckon ET:QW would have been a better sell if it had included a SP module. Don’t comprmise the MP, but give something that will help build a client base. No SP or even a proper training mode would have been a turn off for a potential player
I was moving from ET so was already familiar with the game mechanics.

I like a good story, an immersive and deep story not just tacked on for the sake of having a story. I like things like Halo and Gears of War and go more in-depth into the story with the release of books that brings greater details to the characters you’re controlling.
See, i like to know a bit about the charecters and the history of the game etc… but not much more than can be found in the manual, i have to say i have barely touched single player lately, although i did try wolfenstein singleplayer out of intrest to see what had took up so much time making they forgot to make an at leaste average mp
I tend to play multiplayer only in FPS games, and never been one to really get into the mythology of games. Having said that I will probably give SP a go in Brink.
So with brink, will their be an option for just pure multiplayer (deathmatch, team deathmatch, obj style stopwatch? etc) or just the single player with the ability for like 15 people to jump in and make it into a multiplayer match?
The campaing is optional. You can just play individual matches, like stopwatch if you like, without any “Story” attached. There are no DM or TDM modes. Everything is 8v8 objective based, one team attacks one team defends gameplay.
