Ok so lots of you peeps know me as SoD.

Problem is that not only does the name suck (imo), there is also another Sod who plays for hardcore possibly best in Europe Infensus.

Whilst I find it flattering that people like LeM.Melachi etc confuse me with this other dude, I don’t want knick the bloke’s name or be taken for someone else - I only changed to SoD because SwordOfDamocles was too long (especially if I ever go clanned).

soooooo…

(i) Do you peeps think I should change my name

                    and

(ii)WTF should I change it to???

Real issues here cos I may well go clanned soon…

It has some pretty good stuff on various mythologies including Greek. Usually has the story behind each of the characters too, so you can get info on who you might like to be. How about Narcissus :smiley:

If you want a regular name, try this: When I was studying graphic design we used ti have to invent names for our projects, and we did this by randomly opening a page int he dictionary and putting our finger on a word. If we liked it, or it conjured ideas of other words, problem solved.

I am a fan of Warhammer (40k). Maybe you can find a name cool name (and its story) there. I borrowed my name from Space Wolf.

Damocles: M8 I’ve had this name for 3 years now so I didn’t thieve it from you (promise!), whilst I like the mythology thing to do with my name I only chose SwordOfDamocles because of what this particular myth means. It’s also a nod to my old man.

I’m still in need of a new name tho, so please keep going with the suggestions when you have nothing better to do!

Try some ordinary word in your native language. The meaning of the word shouldnt mean much

Like “narkar” for me. It means “drug addict” or “junkie”

Maybe Ventilator or some other word like this

Really its a name so the meaning shouldnt bother you
Just find a word that has a “ring” to it

Well the way I see it, is the name you choose needs to be somewhat personal to you, like your current one. And while it doesn’t have to be personal in the respect it has to mean a lot to you… it’s just gotta be somethin you like. I don’t think anybody can choose a name for you.

So think of a favorite movie or song even if you’re having that much trouble finding a new name and just pick a song title, movie character (like mine).

Generally everyone I know, especially in my clan has a story behind their name. So if you feel you really need to change your name, I’d take my time in doing so. :drink: Best of luck.

how about putting the word “off” after the SOD bit (he he im so funny, slaps himself on back and smirks in self congratulatory glee :clap: ). why not stick with the ii.sod thing that you do. also why do you have to change your name, why does this other person get to have it, it seems abit unfair to me. Perhaps you can contact this other person and discuss the issue(maybe a one on one to decide who gets the name or you can discuss ways to both keep the name while both being clearly different people), but honestly i think SODoff would be quite cool (honest im not joking). If that does’nt appeal to you then perhaps you can think of something utterly silly like my name. Here are some stupid suggestions

Warhammer Online is set for release in the Spring of 2004.

And to Splash Damage: When you could make a Warhammer (40K) game, that would be quite cool. Maybe you can get Activision to buy a license for you …

I’d just try to think of something that absolutely no one else would have. That way you don’t have to think of a new one when yours is taken, cuz it wont be. Like my name for instance. There is some sort of meaning to it, but I don’t really remember. Also it isn’t exactly gonna get stolen by anyone because it doesn’t make a lot of sense.

only problem is is that most people call me Ranstation or Ranstanton or many many other variations. Not many people get it right.

I wouldn’t really worry about sharing a name with someone else too much. There are plenty of Dawgs out there (and assorted variants), but I don’t really care. One thing I did was make up a fake clan tag and put it on the front end. So, you’ll usually see me online as [k9]Dawg -ready for x-mas in my red and green!. Actually, for x-mas last year (in RtCW) I went as Santa Dawg.

You could just go to the full SwordOfDamocles, it shouldn’t be too long for ET. Unless you color it up too much. Everyone will just shorten it to Sword if they are trying to contact you in text chat …
