PLZ HELP in ET

(DarkLord) #1

Im getting a weird error. Its a long story so ill start by the beggining. Yesterday i did a few ET games. Nice and easy. Today most of the times i cant connect to a server! It just says: Awating challenge…1,2,3 and the number keeps increasing! When i finnally reached “Awaiting gamestate” fase it booted me out saying: “CD Key is not reaching GuidAuth server.” After a few more attempts i finnally connected to a server, but as soon as i see the landscape im booted out by PunkBuster with the message: “Empty CD Keys are not allowed on this server”. And no, i did not cheat as some other forums replied to me :banghead: I already tried reinstalling, tried connecting to several other servers, updating PB, updating ETPro, removing ETPro, but no results! Can anyone PLEASE help me???

NOTE: I dont understand that CD key thing. Isnt ET supposed to be free?

If it makes you feel better, you’re not the only one with this problem. In fact, a forumsearch on cdkey might overflow your buffer

some possible solutions:

  • fix your firewall
  • /pb_Cdkeyreg to get a new key
  • delete C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain\etkey to get a new key
  • /pb_cdkeyverauto 1 /pb_writecfg

You’re the first one that I know of that has the “CDKey not reaching…” problem since the latest PB update (which includes improvements that are supposed to significantly reduce the problem). Make sure you have the latest PB version by running PBWEB, and if you still get the problem you can create a web ticket here:

http://www.evenbalance.com/troubleticket/new_ticket.php?game=et

My guess is that you either have DNS problems or packet loss though, and Evenbalance won’t be able to do much about that. If this started today it may just be temporary problems with your ISP.

Sometimes it just happens, and a few tries later it works, but yesterday was the first full day that i couldnt play the game. Ill try your suggestions, and ill reply again if it doesnt work. Thank you for your help.

Im replying again because… i cant find any file named cdkey inside etmain! I already tried reisntalling but no success. Maybe thats why the message said:" Empty CDKey not allowed on this server?"

Sorry for the triple post, but it seems that the problem is related to packet loss. When i do the command /pb_cdkeyreg it says CDKey requested to GuidAuthServ (ip of the Authentication server) it just stops. No replie, wich makes me believe that the request NEVER gets there. If its my computer (wich i doubt it) no problem. Im gonna format next weekend. If its the ISP, oh well ill just wait and see. But can anyone shed light on this problem?

The file is called etkey not cdkey

maybe you have a program such as peerguardian? i think you blocked et from contacting the pbserver to request a new cdkey.

Is your Window XP firewall turned off?
