Plz for the next patch LET US TALK between maps and cinematics & include Chat History

(PanzerIV) #1

I find it really annoying not to be able to chat with other people once the last objective is done and that a 15-20sec cinematic plays then also the 30sec before the next map loads so ur stuck sitting like a duck for almost a minute without being able to communicate with others. Every other games let you do it and it wouldn’t be something too hard to do.

I would love to be able to use these extra seconds during cinematics between objectives to tell a strategy to my teammates so they are ready asap once the next objective starts right after because in this game every seconds matters, mostly on the first spawn of a new obj.

I also hate not being able to see a chat history because I don’t always have the time to read what people says and the Global Chat is the same color of the server’s ads which is really stupid so I have an even harder time to read then byebye it’s gone forever. Don’t even dare to tell me to look into the messy console and scroll for minutes to see something that I could see in 2 seconds with a decent chat history, mostly when the console gets spammed of random errors command lines.

It would definitely be better to be able to talk during cinematic and what you are saying. it can be annoying if you are trying to talk and it gets cutoff. I hope this can be fixed, improved.

Yes, in my opinion they desperately need to reintroduce as strongly as possible all communication aspects, full chat with history and full voip.

If there were any objections to this implementations due to wanting to keep the game atmospheric or to try to eliminate chat/voice abuse (the only logical reasons that players have come up with when discussing the lack of these features), they are no longer relevant since most of the people that still play and want to keep playing the game are mature gamers that mainly play because of the online component.

This is the single aspect decision for the game that completely baffles me to this day. In the first days of the game communication was limited already but at least I remember people commenting after the matches saying ‘good game’ at the very least. But for some reason I cannot even start to comprehend, since one of the updates most servers seem to have chat off by default.

An online game should have as many ways of interacting between players as possible. If I find someone is being annoying over voice I just turn it off for the match, but not having the option to even be active is ridiculous. Experience has demonstrated that online games that want to keep the feel of single player experiences just don’t work, people would rather play a completely online game or completely single player one. The closest thing is coop modes but even those are generally considered to be an online experiences, with all the expectations for good communication options.

There definetly needs to be chat in between.

Personally I would want an option to get rid of those cinematic/screens too.

Oh, and since I started playing I also though chat system should be redesigned, as in first there should be different colours for global, team and system messages, because being all the same colour (white) it was even hard sometimes to see the comments players were making between the disconnection messages. I also think that all chat channels should be in one (with different colours) since it was also cumbersome at the end of the match checking the different chats (team, global) to see if people were talking on one or the other. It would also be good if the end chat for a match continued at the beginning of the next one (on top of the cinematic as people are requesting) since the time is very limited between matches and most people seemed to have the time to only say ‘gg’.

I cannot imagine why the devs wont enable these simple tweaks that just make the ‘game sell itself’ to players, meaning that if people were talking and commenting about things that happened on matches and congratulating others (even complaining is amusing some times!) the game would have much bigger appeal with online gamers. It’s like releasing a mod developing kit, the community is practically doing the work for you.

Easy.

System messages in white, resistance in red, sec in blue. Everything else yellow.

I disagree…not the factions should have their own chat-colour, but the sides.

(Smoochy) #8

ad chat over the bloody cinematics. chat is great for community. i dont know why games dont want us to talk any more. i guess all the little rednecks with their racist remarks? on PC i rarely have seen much abuse.

(Aristotle) #9

On the PC you can talk between maps when the scoreboard is up. There is chat buttons on the bottom left of the screen for global team and ft, though I think some servers have it disabled.

(matsy) #10

When you say chat history, I’d prefer when you press T is shows the last 5 chat comments of the current match.

(Nexolate) #11

Could always have a scroll bar, similar to Source games.

Yes, yes, and yes

Forgive me if I’m being stupid here, but how do the factions differ from the sides? It’s not like there’s “side 1” and “side 2” - you’re either on Security, or you’re on Resistance. No? I guess you could differentiate between attack and defence, but why would that be more useful (and indeed usable) than Sec vs. Res?

If you really want bonus points, go find the design person/team who thought not having it in there in the first place was a good idea and get them to explain their thinking. As seriously, not being able to yell, ‘**** your tower!’ / ‘We didn’t want those founders anyway’ at the other team is just a constant hateful reminder of everything that is wrong.

If its the same person/people who though CTF was a backward step I’ll get the mental health papers ready, tokamak will probably be able to find some sort of Men in Black mind wiping device.

Sweet, we got an answer, and it was the one we wanted, so let’s keep this on the dee ell and we might be lucky enough to receive similar titbits in the future

Awesome!! :stroggbanana:

Wow!! This is one of my biggest complaints about the game. I didn’t really think I’d miss typing/seeing GG after matches at first, but then I realized how much it made me feel like there was a real community out there just playing games together and having fun. Not having the ability makes me feel like I’m just part of some anonymous simulator.

Great news badman! I would also like to hear the design rationale for not having post game chat in the first place.

Felt pretty much like just playing with bots, which isn’t cool.

Really nice to see a dev that took 1min of his time to finaly give us some quick feedback. We would love to hear more of these “We confirm we’ve read this” kind of posts
