Bad Company 2 didn’t have chat after the match at launch either. The mind boggles as to why.

Ye in Bc2 you can see the all the stas / leaderboard/ and unlock progression but no chat : \ would be cool if it had.

Bc2 does some things more apealing then brink you slowly unlock the guns\attachments\ and you need to play each class in order to unlock all the guns and level 50 takes like ages to reach.

In brink you can get level 20 in like 2 /3 days easily if you play medic, so at the long run isn´t so much fun, its really fun to slowly unock stuff, that makes you try each and every gun after you unlock it.

Where you are right is that it takes age to reach lvl50 in BC2 which I am almost, I think I was 49 when I stopped to play Brink instead, however you unlock everything at level 22 if you don’t just play the same class like an idiot, and it’s extremly fast to reach 22 then I think going from 22 to 23 is as long as from 1 to 22 so then from 22 to 50 it’s just to brag around because you don’t unlock anything at all.

I do prefer too to unlock stuff very slowly for weapons as like in CoD4, it gets much less fun to play once you have unlocked everything. At least Brink is still fun even after you got everything but yea I do get your point. Also if it wasn’t about the free attachement that you get, no one would do the training and they are in fact extremly useful to new players. You almost have to pay them to have them do the trainings lol.

Agree with all 3 of your suggestions. Text chat between rounds and chat history just seem like no-brainers. It is weirdly isolating not being able to swap “ggs” after a game (I found this on BFBC2 also.)

The default chat text is very difficult to read (even after making the font larger.) The positioning doesn’t help as text strings often spill over onto multiple lines making them harder to interpret.

Also agree about the console. Would it be possible to have a ConsoleVerbose cvar? Then leave the default console output as a stream of chat, kills (preferably with the weapon name instead a little white icon) and exceptional events.

Finally, any chance of bringing back coloured player names? Chat from friends is much more attention grabbing simply based on a known name colouring. (There’s a slight irony in all the marketing which centred around customisation when the text colouring variations removed from previous idtech games provided orders of magnitude more permutations.)
