pleeeease fix this bug

I don’t often experience this bug, but when I do it annoys the hell out of me - it’s the bug where dropped packs don’t go far enough and the dropper picks them up before they even leave his hands.

I was playing today and was a medic. I ran out of ammo, so I picked up a tommy. I ran out of that, I ran out of pistol ammo. I ran out of nades. And all the while, I was bugging 2 field ops for ammo, and every pack they attempted to drop, they picked up.

It’s not just happening to me, I do it as well. As that medic, people were consistently asking for health, and I was consistently dropping it on myself because my view was a little too low down, or I was moving. It seems like the only sure fire method to drop packs is to run backwards and keep your view as close to the horizon as possible. This of course is not good when you’re in the heat of things.

So Splash Damage - are you going to do a patch or not? Have Activision pulled the plug on any possible support oer what?

PS - forgot another bug I saw for the first time today - bodies that sit on the foot bridge in fuel dump don’t fall down if the bridge is destroyed. It was quite weird walking under a floating dead body.

I agree, it is sooooo disturbing when it happens. Imagine my happiness when I playes shrub and it was fixed there. So my recommendation until a patch comes out is to play on a shrub server (hopefully one with most other things turned off :D)

Yeah I do sometimes play shrub (it is a great mod) but sometimes I get a superb ping to a server that I just can’t resist. I was pinging 18 to a server the other day  That was just too good to resist. And that was 18 in game, not in browser.

Throwing the pack upward tends to help with this. I agree though, this should really be fixed in the main release.

How about walk backward when throwing the pack? when I play as a medic I have the same problem but I just do that: Problem solved (unless i need to give ammo/health to a mortar/mg soldier)

BTW. in some servers they have a fix for that. and you toss the pack about 3 times far than normal… nice but sometimes it go trough the receiver =P

Try not to shove stuff down your teammates throat. Step back a bit and the packs will work fine. If you’re too close than their bounding box prevents the pack from moving forward before it becomes “active” and you end up eating it.

When feeding deployed mortars or MGs, give them plenty of room while you dish your goods. If you’re too close then they can’t aim horizontially, which can often times get you and the MG guy killed. Getting too close to a mortar can be fatal, albeit rather funny. =)

Yeah I know about the idiot medic preventing you from moving horizontally problem first hand, so when I play medic I always approach prone people from behind and drop the packs at a safe distance.

I tell you though, there are worse things that idiot medics - there are idiot field ops. Not dishing out ammo, but instead standing there, preventing you from moving, while they scour the battlefield with their binocs trying to find a good spot to place an arty strike.
