Alright then I will come at it from another angle, we have ranked matchmaking already, so 1, why bother making casual matchmaking at all? and 2, no matter how well you try to balance that system there are going to be imbalanced matches either way, meaning from a business standpoint you are wasting time and resources on a system that ultimately does not resolve the issue.
Even if we do introduce casual matcmmaking there’s no guarantee it will resolve the issues the game has, especially since most of it comes down to players simply not knowing how to play.
1a. Ranked is a different animal, with a different purpose, that should cater to different people. People who play casual aren’t interested in the extra stress of Ranked more often than not;
1b. Ranked’s reputation is soiled. Even before starting to play I already had heard about it. Add to that how you see people complaining about newbies in ranked, and wanting to raise the minimum level and whatnot. I can just imagine the sort of thing a newbie might hear in a Ranked match if their team loses;
1c. Ranked has nothing enticing about it for casuals, who always will be the masses. Sure, I’d like the Ranked skins, but I’m not up to waiting 15 minutes to get into a likely imbalanced match, run the risk of having people blame me for a loss (low level and medic? it’s a salt magnet), to get a meager amount of points and then repeat all that, likely for days, to get one card. I don’t give a flying horse’s dick about rank besides the cards, but they are behind a stressful grind-wall people just don’t want to deal with.
2a. Already addressed that in a previous post: “The fact there are other factors that can potentially cause imbalance doesn’t means no action should be taken about one of them when it’s possible to”;
2b. From a business point of view, they want more players. Something that can, with one sweep, both reduce the amount of imbalanced matches and allow people to play with their friends, solves two demands the players seem to have had for a long time. The fact it doesn’t completely solves the issue, again, doesn’t negates that it can at least mitigate it to some measure, and any chance for balance is better than none.
