If you think I get owned in ET feel to visit any of the servers my clan plays on.

Check out the Terminal Insanity and Bloodshed Slaughterhaus servers (about 6 or so total).

Then you can see how much I get “pwned”.

I just thought I’d bump this thread back up to the top.
I seem to remember Bani talking about how no one ever does the old /kill in combat and how this would never be a problem etc and so forth.

So here we, the game has been out a while and it seems everybody who’s anybody /kill’s in combat. Sometimes the complaint requires proof and sometimes you can just think ahead. Looks like we were thinking ahead.

I don’t care whether they use it or not… you still get battle sense. Besides, if you get off headshots they’re dead in three hits. Usually they wait till you have the upper hand to /kill, and the /kill seems to take a split second to take effect anyway.

I use /kill alot… to get ammo or health, to change spawns to defuse, or to change classes. When I am in a firefight which seems hopeless, and see in the corner of my eye that respawn is few secs away, i often throw a grenade or do a little dance and then /kill just before respawn (sometimes missing it :bored: )… I feel bad for the other dude every time, not because of XP but because it plain sucks - but each time I die and the respawn timer says 28 secs… well, that sucks harder :smiley:

But to not give the enemy XP? Heh!!! When you see a PF grenade speeding towards you you KNOW you have been creamed, why add to that the humiliation of being a fucking retard? And when it’s not a PF, just one enemy, and respawn far away - well, when there is cover there usually IS a way to do it, you just have to find it and/or be lucky. Maybe you can play cat and mouse until just before respawn, to gain your team time - and then /kill out of sight, so the enemy still expects you “over there” while you have already respawned muahaha :banana:

sometimes i simply HAVE to use the kill for a completetly honest purpose…BECAUSE IM STUCK!!!.. there are quite a few places u can get stuck in the map…fueldump is worst…

Could the Battle Sense XP awarding system be used to allow or disallow the use of the /kill?

For example; a person could not use the /kill while taking or giving damage, or shortly afterwards.

I like /kill, especially if someone else uses it.

If my opponent uses /kill then it means he’s no longer in my face, he’s no longer preventing me doing what I’m doing and he’s saved me a few bullets into the bargain. Give the guy a bonus I say…3XP for a /kill.

True, I’ve lost XP (or rather I haven’t gained any), but so f*cking what? This is an objective based team game people. If my opponent uses /kill he’s no longer preventing my team achieving it’s objective (until he re-spawns of course).

The only way in which /kill can be abused is for a quick recharge, and then only in certain circumstances on certain maps. Besides, play on ETPro servers and that little problem’s solved as well.

If they did it to respawn with their team, that was the right thing to do.

Otherwise, they screwed up and gave the enemy a free gib.

You would get a BIG disadventage if you didnt use /kill.

To run into four enemies when youre using a pistol and its 2 sec to spawn and not take /kill is pure stupidity if you ask me.

tbh I’m tired of arguing about /kill. It’s an incredibly sensible feature to use, it in no way disadvatages the person who otherwise would have got the kill, and it’s in no way shape or form “lame”. End of story, simple as, blah… blah… blah.

Maybe it is lame to use it in some situations, but it is stupid not to use it in others. Sure you could be more honourable and eat your own grenade to do it instead, but there are no points for honour in this game. “Lame” things like this (spawnkills is another example) is what wins games when you are playing clanwars. One could wish that players would not use these things to the same degree on Pubs though, it tends to piss people off and can yield boring games.

Stickycharge in ETPro takes away the most obvious gain of /kill, but not all ETPro servers uses that I am afraid. What do you say kendle?

You’re right, they don’t, but stickycharge is enabled by default, so if it’s off the server Admin has deliberately set it up so that /kill can be abused for instant recharge, contrary to most competition settings as well. In that case, I’d ask myself whether I wanted to play on that kind of server.

Just use “sticky bar” or may set a limit to how many times each player can use it per map.
