Please make glass more visible

(Smokeskin) #1

I have a really hard time seeing glass in this game, and with it being unbreakable, it is quite annoying. I believe some glare or tint should be added.

i <3 when heavies are gunning away at me and there’s a sheet of TransSteel between us (it sure isn’t glass).

Worse case scenario you should see bulletholes appearing on it. I normally have no trouble spotting glass and there are only so many places that have it. Sec tower and resort??? No other places come to mind immediately.

Changing details in maps is usually never done. I don’t think that kind of stuff is easy to patch.
Better just to learn those places on the map, and save our requests for more important things.

You could change the material file quite easily to alter the effect of the glass. Assuming you already knew what changes you want to make to produce a more distinctive glass effect you could make the changes in about 1 minute.

Honestly i’ve never had trouble distinguishing glass, but i’ve seen some have.

(Smokeskin) #6

Maybe it is some ingame or card setting that is different? There is as good as no difference between clear and glass for me.

(yuval152) #7

you tried to raise the gamma?

(Smoochy) #8

+1. its not a big job to tweak a texture. it could be more work to try to add the sheen in the right place. for example it would need to be central to the glass to look right.

to me they look fine anyway. maybe make them a tad darker or something as in terminal at the hack area its sometimes hard to see the doorways between the glass

(wolfnemesis75) #9

Resort is the level where I can run into the glass.

(.FROST.) #10

One of my first complaints I had with this game. Ouite hard to distinguish glass from no glass. I know where it is and where it starts or begins now, since I play this game so long, but I still consider it a weak solution texture and properties wise.

(murka) #11

In this pic it’s pretty clear that glass is surrounded by a distinguishable border and has a bluish/darker tint compared to clear view.

(wolfnemesis75) #12

Glass is still hard to see.

Aquarium and Terminal also have glass on them.

(Metal-Geo) #14

Glass is definitely lacking some shading or some sorts. Like a reflection map?

(zenstar) #15

Not to mention the doorframe it’s sitting in. I must admit that I occasionally don’t spot glass, especially when I haven’t been playing for a while, but most of the time I have no issues with it. Maybe it’s a graphics card setting?

+1 to the OP

It’s really annoying to have a firefight around a glassed area where one of the panels is just missing to act as a door.

@murka - that picture just proves the OPs point. The only obvious difference is that the frame is different on the solid panel. Plus, try backing your character up 50 yards and look down an iron sight at an enemy and tell me it’s still obvious…

(murka) #17

That tint difference is pretty obvious imho and only as a new player will there be trouble distinguishing as once you see the glass there, you will know forever that it’s glass.
If you have trouble, turn gamma up.

LOL. Reminds me of the 2 times Justin Bieber has done something similar (she bounced though and didn’t break the glass). Ah… couldn’t happen to a more deserving noise.

Your screen shot is from PC, so I guess you’re on PC? Where you sit close to the screen. And the screen shot is also close to the glass.

I’m not a new player, and sit further from the screen as it’s on console. I also have gamma right up. No amount of arguing will change the fact that it is a problem for me (that is annoying, not game breaking). And apparently I’m not alone.
