Please make a lobby update.

(ClarK) #1

Hello, I am making this thread on behalf of the console community so please no pro-PC talk. In order for this game to thrive in the console scene, players should have the option to form teams and players prior to the start of a match. This would make the game much better and easier to create competitive matches. All we want is a pre-game lobby to organize teams and maps etc.

Please post in this thread if you are behind this update idea.

I think you mean thrive. Strive means attempt. Thrive means flourish, or grow.

Wouldn’t it be easier for them just to add the option to restart the match once everyone is on?

(ClarK) #5

Good catch, yes I did mean thrive.

(Nayr) #6

Yeah, assuming when you join you can select your team and prior to that we can select the map and gametype. Which is unclear to me at this point.

(DazTroyer) #7

So if your online with five mates, how do you find a game and end up on the same side?

(Nail) #8

there is a competition setting

(Twistedpandora) #9

id rather have a lobby then a restart. lobby is a good place to hang out to get food and boi breaks etc, plus you can make sure every one is rdy at the same time and discus tactics and whos gonna be what class etc

(Nayr) #10

and what is that exactly?

Gamebattles.com was planning on releasing a ladder on consoles for this game tonight. However, consoles lack some of the key functionalities of PCs, so a lobby system is required in order to gather members before a match, select appropriate teams, then start the match for everyone at the same time.

If Splash Damage overlooked this lobby system that is necessary for competition on the consoles, I would hope that a patch could be implemented that would allow players to create a lobby for a private match, choose the map being played, and allow each individual player to choose either Resistance or Security before the game starts, then allow the lobby leader to start the game.

(Nail) #12

may have this totally wrong but I think it allows you to set up a fireteam of 8 people and then matches you with other like minded people, fireteams stay together through map changes

(NuMbzZz) #13

supported!!!

(Linsolv) #14

Competitive settings are:

2-5 players per team (as opposed to the “normal” 8-8);

FF on,
VoIP enabled,
Forced balance.

(DazTroyer) #15

Well is that not party matchmaking??? If thats the case then isn’t that a lobby of sorts, like GoW matchmaking??? Not great for clan matches but a start.

(BRAVOMIKE87) #16

supported & troll forum battle ready.

(Nayr) #17

Sounds interesting, but can that be implemented for 5v5 or 4v4 in private matches is my question? Just seems like an odd way to handle the lobby/party system that so many developers use now in days.

(ClarK) #18

If the games are force balanced then there’s almost no way you can set up a 4v4 or 5v5 with specific teams set already.

You can set up fireteams as nail said. Not sure how to do it exactly but you party up with friends and stay on the same team through out map rotations. Also there is an option for invite only lobbies where you can further some settings on console for competitive play.

The above information only applies to public matches.
