Please gief Vassily some powah!

Having that “friendly engi” hunched above the dyno with his knife out, looking like he’s gonna defuse the stuff, was an endless source of lolz for Fuel Dump and SW Battery tbh :). However, Nail does point the obvious here, having that mechanic only makes sense when you can use it to get passed enemy lines and into the obj zones. Current maps don’t have that, so we can only speculate here about the other cvops loadouts the the mysterious Maps X from the milestones dump.

Also, with the team distinction issues, unless the disguise is an actual lamp post or a dustbin, it won’t achieve much :slight_smile:

I’d go with a smoke nade, but there are mode loadouts we haven’t tested yet so until those are fully uncovered and playtested, we’re shaping smoke here.

(Anti) #22

How do you find the Sniper Rifle recon 01 has?

(iwound) #23

vsay “Enemy disguised as a bush”

(Valdez) #24

Perfect. Not overpowered but also not worthless. Very useful in stages of certain maps

(Maca) #25

Yeh, I think I understand why they don’t want them, there is skill involved in communications, and if you know where the enemy is, it’s possible that the enemy also knows where you are. Which is foiled if there are any sort of radars in the game.
But I’m just puzzled that why did the comp FPS evolve into this situation where no form of information gathering is allowed, ever, no exceptions. And was just wondering if there is any way the HBcensor could be modified for comp usage?

(Humate) #26

IMO what works well as a compromise, is a unique sound set for each team.

(INF3RN0) #27

Smoke nade=very useful+give covert a bigger role. Disguise=useless in comp, fun in pub. Gib smokes asap ploz.

(tokamak) #28

Very powerful but completely useless in certain situations. Provided that you’re still sticking with the one specialisation each game it’s pretty close to perfect. Only the zoom may be a bit too strong.

(Ashog) #29

I doubt that with current layout of gadgets Covertop is worthy in attack. As defender he can camp in the back and kill ok, perhaps also on Camden where theres a lot of open, he can attack successfully (and I did that myself), but on all other maps with the current nerfed sniper rifle (unscoped) he is pretty much meat in close quarter fights. Of course someone will say it’s lies, but I will not believe him :wink:

(Breo) #30

What about EMP nades for turrets, heartbeat sensor and EV?

(tokamak) #31

The sniper one-shots turrets (which is a good thing).

(Mustang) #32

I’d rather have smoke and emp instead of heartbeat any day.

(DJScream) #33

Smoke nade could be nice but first we need to turn off those enemy health bars :wink:

(iwound) #34

Enjoyed trying out the sniper for a proper go today.
I cant hit a barn door but still have more kills than as an engie dropping mines.
i like the fact that it is hard. very interesting looking for all the good spots.

(Ashog) #35

Try it on Camden in offense - its freaking hilarious. Also high fps helps.

(ice---) #36

a smoke nade would be very nice and please a ability to make objectives :slight_smile:

(INF3RN0) #37

We desperately need side objectives with hack doors, constructable bridges/barricades/detox, destructible doors, etc. This would bring so much more to each class.

(iwound) #38

a smoke can would be nice.
nicer if it didn’t keep still but span around making it slightly inaccurate and less predictable.
could end up falling down stairs, being shot etc

I think damage per hit is nice though if you hit enemy in the toe twice it shouldn’t kill the poor guy.

The hold breath to steady is just very annoying mechanic. You push shift and if you release it accidentally or unnoticed or you need the finger on some other key like ctrl while scoping the scope starts to sway more than if you hadn’t pushed shift in the first place.

Sway without shift feels bit too excessive (could be the randomness of the swing). To fix this maybe put very little random swing or make it regular pattern.

Also no-scoping is pretty useless even in very close range… we tried some duels with it and i think I hit myself more than the my friend. I have no opinion if this should be fixed or not atm.

Very annoying feature for me is when you scope in and shoot too close together you get the magnification with the accuracy of no-scope. This makes the class really hard to play effectively for me because its the way I shoot when the guys start to get too close.
Example of the way I’d like it to work: http://youtu.be/a9zAfHrmffc?t=3m3s

There are other stuff that I don’t like too much graphicswise but they affect every class but since I’m at it.
-It’s really hard to distinguish guys from the backround with my old eyes ;;
-And the gun although I like “my gun’s bigger than yours” 1/4 screen is bit too big ;
;

DISCLAIMER:
My opinions are very heavily influenced by etqw sniper mechanics and the feel. I really loved the class and i always thought it was the best combination of weapons in the game. I think some guys coming from etqw agree with me on that, right dthy? :slight_smile:

I just played the demo to see how things working and I approve this!
