Please fix the Barnett

The Barnett has no bolt action animation after firing with any scope making it very hard to tell when you can fire again. And after the last round is fired you are stuck in scoped view for a few seconds making you a sitting target.

And please explain to me why the Barnett takes longer to reload than the Chinzor MG? The magazine needs to be bigger or the reload time needs to be shorter, because by comparison is pretty useless.

i also have these issues

getting stuck in the scope after firing the last shot is particularly annoying.

Also, not sure if this is intended, but after firing the last shot it will play the whole bolt action animation before the reload starts

Dont fire the last shot then. Reload before firing the last bullet. Jeez…

well that goes back to my second point, mag size and reload speed:

Barnett: 4 round magazine, 4.5 sec reload
Gotlung Minigun: 200 round magazine, 5 sec reload

This issue has become apparent and i love the barnett as it is a great support weapon for dealing good damage and then my team will finish them off or i will pull out my ritchie and finish them. But the issue still stands that the bolt animation doesnt play unless you stay scoped in, and also the last shot forces you to stay scoped in for a while.

I dont mind the reload time or 4 bullet clip, but these issues are tough to play with.:rolleyes:

dont use a pussy sniper rifle then. i bought brink on the premise it wouldnt be filled with camping snipers. unfortunately it is getting worse. getting OHK while running and jumping is a joke. at least make snipers have projectile ballistics and physics and bullet drop. why has sniping become so easy in games?!?!

This isn’t a point of realism, it’s a point of balance. The Barnett is going to feel like this until we’re sure it isn’t going to become the main feature on the obituaries board. If it does ever get a help in any regard, reload speed will be the first priority.

You should also try out the Drognav. :wink:

The barnett already has its counterbalances by slow rate of fire, small clip, slow reload, and its still not a OHK unless its a light class and a headshot. Its a support weapon to hit someone and then another person takes them out. as of now it has glitches that obviously arent supposed to be their. and also, i usually use the rhett ar, but i wanted to test out using a sniper with my light class.

Funny thing is…

Sometimes it has a bolt action animation and sometimes it doesn’t have it.

Experienced that in some matches where i used the Barnett.Sometimes it makes to bolt action animation and you hear the “click clack” and somtimes it’s not there or get’s scipped it seems. :o

I don’t see the problem with snipers. You can climb, there are a lot of alternate routes, players moves fast and the machine guns are so accurate you can spray headshots while running and soldiers have unlimited grenades. Sniping is almost impossible unless you are very very good. I don’t even shoot people, I can clean a room of players as a soldier by just throwing grenades, sweeping and knifing them and no one has caught on to it yet.

If you scope out immediately after you shoot then it doesn’t do the reload animation, but you still have to wait to fire again.

i play medium. i was getting OHK last night by it. ruins the run of any fast paced shooter.

i dunno, i was playing shipyard last night and was getting sniped all the time. whichever way you go from the spawn you are an easy target. it didnt help my sound vanished on that map too. i was still top but it was massively annoying.

if i want sniper battles i will play bc2. sniper rifles go against everything brink stands for imo.

if i run and jump and slide im not sure someone can keep headshotting me on the way down. with ballistics they sure couldnt.

maybe someone was cheating? ive already seen cheat vids on youtube with people using aimbots! :frowning: sad little bastards!

Something does feel a bit off about the Barnett’s balance, IMO. I’m wondering if it might be more interesting to reduce the amount of damage it does in one shot, but in trade, have it knock targets down like a melee attack.

The bolt-action animation and the “stay in scope after last shot” should be fixed, the reloadtime and the clip size is fine. Now they only need to fix the sensitivity while zoomed in and I’ll be the light dealing out headshots with the Barnett on the run. At least it’s a funny alternative to SMGs that takes skill.

i still keep getting OHK from this gun. which is annoying as i tried it last night and i cant OHK anyone with it.

OHK isnt for this game.

it doesnt help i cant get my mouse to work smoothly in this game meaning headshots are harder than in other games.

Well, a headshot with the Barnett takes skill which should be rewared. And if you get killed a lot by it you are either not dodging enough or are playing against an excellent player (or a cheater).

Just like Quake III was ruined by railguns/quad damage? Not to mention Instagib in Unreal Tournament '99. Boy oh boy did those games suck.

There are several factors to whether or not the Barnett will kill someone with full health in one shot, namely headshots, body type and health buffs. Don’t be discouraged because you couldn’t pull it off, it takes practise. I believe the cone of fire tightens a little bit if you remain scoped in for a short amount of time so try not to quick scope and just really work on aiming for the head.

I actually find getting sniped out less irritating in Brink than in Call of Duty as it’s generally only due to a good headshot, unless I’m at low health and standing in a sniper’s sight line (which is avoidable).

I’m against any sniper buffs, They’re already becoming too effective as it is from people that know how to abuse them.

It isnt a buff, right now it has glitches which are obvious. Im pretty sure the bolt action animation is supposed to play. And im pretty sure we arent supposed to be stuck in scope mode for 5 seconds after the final shot.
Im not asking for a damage buff/debuff or anything else, just the blatant problems that should be fixed.
