Please fix the Barnett
Just like Quake III was ruined by railguns/quad damage? Not to mention Instagib in Unreal Tournament '99. Boy oh boy did those games suck.

There are several factors to whether or not the Barnett will kill someone with full health in one shot, namely headshots, body type and health buffs. Don’t be discouraged because you couldn’t pull it off, it takes practise. I believe the cone of fire tightens a little bit if you remain scoped in for a short amount of time so try not to quick scope and just really work on aiming for the head.

I actually find getting sniped out less irritating in Brink than in Call of Duty as it’s generally only due to a good headshot, unless I’m at low health and standing in a sniper’s sight line (which is avoidable).
i never liked quake, i was UT all the way. never played instagib as i dont like that style of gameplay.

the thing is when you are playing with bad fps (i have an ATI) against a group defending the objective headshots kinda ruin the fun.

btw they had the same animation issue with ETQW, funny to see it in brink.
but it’s not a big problem

being zoomed when reloading is more serious problem which definitely needs fixing

most important problem not mentioned here - zoom sensitivity, which makes sniper rifles pretty much useless…

they shouldnt be amazing though. SD said right from the get-go that snipers wouldnt be that effective in this game, we dont want loads of engi’s with buffed snipers OHKing everyone! we dont want sniper camp-fests like bc2. the lack of snipers was one of the things that drew me to brink.

why does every game seem to come down to snipers? grow a pair and meet me on the front line

well i’m ok with damage, or even they may reduce it a little (and maybe add knockdowns, for lulz)
really don’t want camp-fests like in other games

i wanna to be able to rush with barnett, but with this zoom sensitivity… the only option you have with barnett is to camp from long distance, because of very low zoom sensitivity.
Kinda not exactly what their intention was initially, right?

(Fasimba) #25

a good way to avoid camp-fests would be to significantly reduce damage over long distance.
like it’s in ETQW. you have to hit like 10 headshots with a railgun to kill a guy on the other end of a map

Get a better mouse that you can adjust the dpi on the fly, it makes sniper rifles pretty useful

(Fasimba) #27

useful tip #1: you don’t choose your mouse by having dpi switch on it

(Smoochy) #28

but if there are 2 mice that feel the same, get one with the DPI on it. im still using a 5 year old MS intellimouse whatsit. still a great mouse and better than the razer one i use at work.

i always make sure its got 2 thumb buttons too. run and crouch. gives my left hand a bit of a break. pity in brink run needs you to press forward too. in bc2 it doesnt so i can just move and aim with my right hand. i can even make a phatty with my left but i do need 2 hands to roll

i dont think its got long left tho, 5 years for a mouse is epic!

(Abaxial) #29

I didn’t. I picked the Razer lachesis because I use my left hand for mouse and it’s difficult to find a mouse that isn’t ergonomic for right handed people with extra buttons that isn’t awful. Also as smoochy said if you’re picking between one that does and one that doesn’t, get the one that does. I really only use it for shooters but it’s definitely been super useful.

Leave the Barnett as it is. You need to remember this is Sci-Fi, not CoD. Maybe in the future we as a human race are immune to hot lead penetrating our brain. LOLOL

I wrote a toggle to change between sniping and normal sensitivity.
bind “mouse1” “cycle sensitivity 2.1 3.8 1.7” “ctrl” “default”

Works like a charm, but i’d rather have a (non-locked)cvar for sniping sense.

(Smoochy) #32

headshots dont always kill IRL. there are places in the chest that are just as deadly as the head.

for instance 50cent was shot in the face and he survived. same with some people that try to shoot themselves in the head. you can even get shot in the brain and live!

not the best option. i’d be stuck sometime trying to recall on which sens i’m right now.
btw funny to see that your ‘sniping’ sens is ~2 times higher than normal. same for me lol
have 3 for usual, and 6 for sniping (on 400dpi)

i have a lot more convenient solution for it - autohotkey.
when you press MOUSE2 - it’ll zoomin and also press button, which sets sens to 6
when you release MOUSE2 - it’ll zoomout and press button, which changes sens back to 3

THIS works like a charm, i dont have to press any additional buttons, but still, i’d prefer changeable ingame zoomsens
