Please devs, we've gots ta know...

“they owe us alot.”

they owe you nothing

(system) #22

They only thing SD possibly owes you is a working, bug free game IF and only IF you buy the game.

(DarkangelUK) #23

His question was for the developers, not the community manager. Which devs are as active as the ones on here? And I mean NOT the community manager. And the last part “Just because SD post more than the standard, doesn’t mean they have to offer up every bit of info you demand of them” definitely wasn’t made up.

And Nail got it spot on, they owe you nothing.
“It is totally legitimate to ask questions and expect an answer to most of them”

lol, you’re funny, that would only be true if you were an investor. It’s their game, they owe you nothing, no info, no screenshots, no videos, no dev diaries, no forum insight or anything else, yet through their generosity we’ve been given these. Not only do they give us a community manager, which many games have, but they take their time to post in the forums as well. When was the last time a dev posted in the Bethesda forums for their games. Ask all you want, I’m sure they would be interested to see any new relevant question, as I would, but to automatically expect an answer is asking a little much
Lol way to put words in my mouth. Reread that quote, I said it’s “legitimate to ask questions” I never said they “owe” anybody anything. However your naivete shines through in your post, since you think that screenshots, videos and dev diaries are not first and foremost forms of marketing. How do you think their campaign would go down if all they did was say: “BRINK. It’s a video game”. So they have community managers, screenshots, and all the other stuff there because less people would buy the game if they didn’t. They aren’t doing it out of the goodness of their incorruptible hearts, as you seem to think.

Once again, I have nothing but respect for SD and I think they are one of the best devs’ out right now, but I don’t extend my love of their work to the extreme of believing that they are altruistic gods who let us see glimpses of the game even though we are unworthy peons.

Its like going to a Ford dealership and having the guy tell you all the awesome stuff about a Ford. Then he even lets you test drive it! SHOCKER: He’s trying to sell you a car. It’s his job. I suppose it would be ridiculous to ask for specifics about the car though, since he doesn’t really “owe” it to you to be informed of what you are buying…

(Nail) #25

yeah like a $20,000+ deal is just like a $50 deal, you test drive a toaster, coffee pot, kettle, set of sheets before you buy ? Your lack of comprehension shines through, just another punk with entitlement issues, sorry SD owes you nothing.

(II Captain K II) #26

Typical. Too short-sighted to see past the example to the principle. Also, the fact that you reiterate “SD owes you nothing” pretty much proves how terrible you are at understanding simple concepts. I had no idea the education was so awful in Canada. They don’t teach you reading comprehension OR the basic ideas behind consumerism huh?

(Nail) #27

to expect an answer is entitlement, to ask questions is not, concept clear now

(badman) #28

We’ll definitely have more information on all of the server stuff before release. Waiting on a few last bits of information at the moment.

Also, I’d say that it’s totally and utterly legitimate to throw questions our way - it’s part of why these forums exist. Though as Neil says, we’re not always able to answer straight away.

(Shadedluck) #29

A TYPO?

That’s all I wanted to know. Thank you, Badman. And just so we’re clear, if you’ve been keeping the good stuff from us for any other reason than we can’t handle that amount of awesome, I’m S.M.A.R.T.ing myself over your garden fence with the boys and you’re in for a beating

(LyndonL) #31

Wow. You really are naive. Three little words:

CALL.

OF.

DUTY.

(V1cK_dB) #32

100% agree with u. Most kids on forums can’t seem to understand basic things like that. Here you have a company trying to sell an unproven and unknown product and potential customers shouldn’t expect answers to basic questions? Lol. Obviously running a business is not the strength of some of these kids. It’s like they think the dev and publisher are doing us favors or something by making a game they will sell for $60 a pop.

Also thanks to Badman for responding and bringing some sense into this thread validating what Captain K has been saying to these kids.

(SockDog) #33

SD is the developer, they’re not required to answer your questions or market the game beyond anything directed to them by Bethesda. The fact they do it doesn’t undermine that fact nor make it a reasonable expectation that they should do it all the time.

(Herandar) #34
Honestly, it’s very simple: we answer when we can. When we can’t, it’s either because the information is being saved for a tactical reveal, or the answer simply isn’t confirmed 100% yet (such as while things are still being worked on).

When it’s 100%, you’ll know.
Just quoting this for all of you that missed it and never look back.

(V1cK_dB) #35

Of course they are not required to do it. It doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t though if they want to maximize sales. They don’t have to do anything. They don’t have to have this forum…or community managers…or videos…or do interviews…or anything. But they do. Why? BECAUSE THEY WANT TO SELL IT.

All some people are saying is that more information could mean more sales which I agree with. Now if their strategy is to purposefully withhold info for a “timed” release (we are a few weeks away lol) then I hope their strategy doesn’t backfire. It’s not like this is a proven ip.

If they aren’t releasing info because its not done yet then to that I say WTF? This game was delayed a year and they still haven’t figured out how they are going to allow customization of custom matches on console or whether they are releasing mod tools on PC? Sure buddy I believe that.

(Nail) #36

Splash Damage ALREADY sold the game to Bethesda, Bethesda wants to sell you the game, go annoy them

btw, this thread is NOT about marketing

You seem like a reasonable fellow with a complete grasp of business and with an accurate sense of entitlement. Your capitalization and punctuation are also impeccable.

(Nail) #38

nah, his punctuation is horrible

(Linsolv) #39

You noticed that, huh?
