Please devs, we've gots ta know...

(SuperWaz) #1

It’s getting more than a little frustrating that with weeks until the game’s release, Splash Damage are Bethesda are still withholding important information from us.

I’m sure the fanboys will flame me for saying so, but before you do, consider this.

The people here in these forums are all Brink enthusiasts. We take time out of our day to research and find out more about the game. You can safely say we’re all looking forward to what the title COULD offer, but concerns are growing.

These ARE the people that will likely be those maintaining communities, running servers, creating mods, and prolonging the lifespan of the title, so why aren’t our important questions being answered?

I’ve lost count of the times I’ve tried to find out how the PC servers are going to work, and looking through other threads, the same applies to many other aspects of the game that are getting ignored.

Devs visit these forums daily and have every opportunity to fill in the gaps for us. They know the answers, but choose not to answer the questions.

WHY?

Would someone from the development team or Bethesda at least take the time to let us know WHEN we will know the answers to these questions? Or perhaps, why you’re not readily coming forward with the answers? A simple honest answer would settle the troops, and “you will know when the game releases” is not an acceptable answer to many of these queries.

We’ve all seen pre-emptive damage limitation in action with other titles of late, and this is what it appears is happening. Here’s your chance to prove that’s not what you’re doing.

You’ve always been up front with us before, SD, and we have respected you for it. Please don’t stop now.

[fanboy]Most development studios barely, if ever, interact with their community directly. Just because SD post more than the standard, doesn’t mean they have to offer up every bit of info you demand of them[/fanboy]

(Auzner) #3

And as I’ve been trying to say, the devs don’t read everything. An orange name doesn’t equal project overlord who has all of the answers to everything and has no NDA.

(SockDog) #4

Why not just bump the existing thread. Badman has already closed one duplicate so that can tell you:

A) Don’t keep opening threads, apart from duplication it bumps down other threads on the first page.
B) SD are aware people want information
C) SD are most likely unable to say anything right now otherwise they would have

(SuperWaz) #5

I’d just like to know whether these queries will get answered before release.

Aside from damaging sales with their answer, give me one good reason not to (and no it’s not creating a buzz - at least not a positive one).

(Seyu) #6

What makes you think the devs will reply to this thread when they haven’t responded to the others?
The bold lettering isn’t a compelling enough reason.

(SuperWaz) #7

You think? I thought the bold would force their hand. Time to rethink my strategy maybe?

(Exedore) #8

Honestly, it’s very simple: we answer when we can. When we can’t, it’s either because the information is being saved for a tactical reveal, or the answer simply isn’t confirmed 100% yet (such as while things are still being worked on).

When it’s 100%, you’ll know.

According to the icon, they have… cough

(Seyu) #10

And that is all we shall get.

(Herandar) #11

A financial bonus tied to a Non-Disclosure Agreement. Game developers gotta eat too.

(trigg3r) #12

is your new strategy tagging the thread “dev answer required”?

shhhhh don’t say anything or they’ll fly away

(Dormamu) #13

Someone here is a dev operative disguised as a regular forum user! We need Operatives to spot him.
Who got the Spec Ops Pack?

(Shadedluck) #14

Oh hahaha. Is that unwarranted entitlement from the dev, thats what it says they posted? Or did a regular forum user tag it?

(SockDog) #15

It wasn’t a dev who added the tag. In all likelihood they did whatever they normally do to get that icon to appear without a post to show they’d read the thread. Again take from that what you want.

(Shadedluck) #16

Ahhh. Okay.

(II Captain K II) #17

Wrong. Most developers have community managers that DO interact directly with the forum users. Sounds like you are making that up to defend SD (even though nobody was attacking them). It is totally legitimate to ask questions and expect an answer to most of them, as long as they are reasonable questions. Last I checked, consumers are supposed to ask questions that affect whether or not they will make a purchase. Also, I’m pretty sure SD doesn’t need any little defenders fighting their “battles” for them.

(SuperWaz) #18

Spot on, Cap’n! tips hat

(Nail) #19

“It is totally legitimate to ask questions and expect an answer to most of them”

lol, you’re funny, that would only be true if you were an investor. It’s their game, they owe you nothing, no info, no screenshots, no videos, no dev diaries, no forum insight or anything else, yet through their generosity we’ve been given these. Not only do they give us a community manager, which many games have, but they take their time to post in the forums as well. When was the last time a dev posted in the Bethesda forums for their games. Ask all you want, I’m sure they would be interested to see any new relevant question, as I would, but to automatically expect an answer is asking a little much

(Protector) #20

I can see where the guy is coming from the last bunch of developers I remember that witheld information regarding dedicated servers or the lack of was the Dragon Rising team and look what an absolute failure that game was. Oh and the post above is rediculous “its their game, they owe you nothing”…errr we fill their wallets at the end of the day they owe us alot.

Do you think many people would buy a game for 25-30 quid just because of the name??
