Please DEVS, Fletcher's detonator on right mouse

(Lord.Eblis) #1

Hi all,

I know this has already been asked from devs before but it would be awesome to see the detonator automatically attributed to the right mouse when we are holding those stickies, like when we hold the knife, the system is smart enough to do : left click = light melee / right click = heavy melee and I found that awesome.

I have big hands and use a fingertips hold on mouse, so I cannot bind the detonator on another mouse button cause I would have to release the mouse. And yes I use aim cause I play sniper + fletcher. On my left hand I play with a Razer Orbweaver but I find myself taking too much time to switch to detonator + I have to sacrifice one mouvement to do it (jumping at the same time). I thought about assigning profiles to my mouse to switch when I use fletcher but it didn’t work.

Please, it would not take that much developement and would be aaaaawesome

+1

Ever since I switched from quick ability buttons to classic W:ET style of holding equipment, the only nuisance are Fletcher’s stickies separated from detonator.

(Lord.Eblis) #3

Exactly cause at the end, the detonator has no use by itself = useless to “hold it”, it’s only purpose is to switch/detonate in the blink of an eye, binding it to right mouse will make it more efficient and certainly much faster.

(MarsRover) #4

I have both abilities bound to 2 side mouse buttons. I can’t play DB anymore with a mouse that doesn’t have them.

(Lord.Eblis) #5

I have 4 buttons on mine, but can only use one that is not important : toggle run, cause I can just tilt my thumb WITHOUT releasing the mouse --> claw/fingertip grip
Toggling run from time to time doesn’t make me lose mouse control, detonator button is a too nervous function, I can’t afford losing control of my grip in those situations

(Dawnlazy) #6

I think a good way to go on about this would be to allow us to set up controls for each merc individually.

(Lord.Eblis) #7

I think it’s too complex, cause even with Fletcher I need the aim, especially with that crap Blishlock that has at least a descent coyote. Simplest way : if switch to sticky then bind_rightmouse_quickability2.

Press e. Ez pz

But I don’t mind this being added

Easy to say for anyone who plays Fletcher exclusively. What if someone wants to aim better with medpacks or ammo packs? Pressing 5 on the key takes too long to pull out the ammopacks/medpacks, in a fast paced game like this.

(Lord.Eblis) #10

I tried for a few games, to bind differently my mouse and my Orbweaver but that was not concluding, right mouse button would be THE THING to add.

I know some players are really good and manage to do without it, but I’m sure they would be satisfied if that function is added.

@TheStrangerous
What?
Pressing 5 too long? Anything up to 6 is easy to press with your left hand. And what does that have to do with Fletcher’s stickies?

I disagree, in Arena Shooter, binding keys close to WASD (1-4, Q, E, R, F, V, C) is a necessity, same here in DB.

I don’t wanna sacrifice WASD movement, for example: quickswitch defibrillators are bound to E key, but I wanna pull them out and use M1 to revive lotsa downed team mates. So I switched from 5 to E.

@Amerika is an Arena Shooter expert, so he could explain it better, though he uses ESDF, but it’s too late for me to switch from WASD.

(JJMAJR) #13

And make Fletcher’s sticky gear have a slow equipment swapping speed, and give his bombs an arming time.

Boom, now he is a more defensive engineer.

(Amerika) #14

I solved that issue by putting quick detonate on C. Which sadly doesn’t work for quick aiming Kira’s laser. I use ESDF and I switch to the manual abilities using Q and W then use C for the quick det I described and it works pretty well.

I do agree that SD should put in configuration options for each character. It would be a great quality of life improvement and it wouldn’t be too hard to implement.

(GildedDark) #15

I have the quick ability 2 option binded to my lower thumb button on my mouse. Once the stickies are pulled, out the lower thumb button is the detonator

(Lord.Eblis) #16

@Amerika
I play esdf too but binded to my Orbweaver.
My stickies are binded to one of the thumb’s multi-directional switches, but with that, I just can’t jump and detonate in the same time.
It was the only movement I was able to sacrifice :

  • binding it to left fingers ? No way because I would have to detonate and sacrificing one of the 3 fingers that take care of esdf, pinkie = crouch, toggle stickies
  • I tried binding it to the mouse wheel down but it wouldn’t detonate every time. Same for the thumb switches, I have a lot of failures, and can’t know if it comes from the binding or the game that implement a % of detonation failure : tested the switches and the mouse wheel and they never fail in fast pace in other softwares or games.
  • during 3 hours, I tried to make Dirty bomb profiles for my logitech mouse g700s so that I can switch ingame between a normal profile (right mouse left mouse) and a Fletcher profile with my H key, detonation one, binded to the right mouse so I could switch quickly between right mouse = aim or right mouse = detonate --> I JUST COULDN’T MAKE IT WORK. Logitech software is bugged.

You said “configuration for each character”, I was going to do a post about that because there’s a lack of consistency. Need to take some time to write and test.

Anyway, in my case, this lack of tuhe detonation on right mouse makes me play a slow and not funny Fletcher. I learned to love this character but I can’t play it like I should because of that missing binding. Of course it doesn’t mean it’s a game failure, but I’m not as good as others and just need that tiny thing to enhance my Fletcher’s gameplay

(BananaSlug) #17

i only changed crouch to mb4, and i dont have any problems, also using quick ability buttons is stupid imo, pressing 4 is better in most situations

(frostyvampire) #18

@TheStrangerous
We both forgot that medpacks are bound to 4 and not 5 lol. 5 is for defib/revivr
Also 5, t, g and even b are close to WASD but it might be just me because I have long fingers and nails. And as an extra you can use a gaming mouse which has buttons on it (my mouse has 6 extra buttons on it)

Yes please. And also add an option to decide if the quick use buttons (default Q and E) will make you switch to the item (like REVIVR) or force use it (like HB sensor)

(Herr_Hanz) #19

i used q, e, 1-6, f, g, x, c, v, b, left alt, left shift, ctrl, in Battlefield Heroes. mostly 1, 2, 5, shift, and c. i didnt have mouse buttons back then, and had to use 8 different keys for weapons and ability’s + extra keys for game features.

good idea to use the actual ability on Q and E instead of the quick use buttons, need to remind myself to rebind those when i play DB again.

(doxjq) #20

People use quick ability? Crap I had no idea.

I’ve never used quick ability for anything since my first day playing Dirty Bomb.

I use UHJK for movement and my ability 1 and 2 are set to 7 and 8, and I just use mouse1 to throw packs or detonate his stickies.
