PLEASE autobalance teams

does cod or battlefield put you 2vs 8???
how would that ever be fair? its ruining the whole multiplayer game (for the few who even play it)

ill usually switch to the weaker team but then as soon as we start winning, people either switch to my team or leave!

its a serious flaw and it wont take much of an update to fix it. if the game is to survive at all.

Matchmaking is much better in those games. Auto-balance would upset people who have joined as a 4-8 man group. They want to play together, not get split up.

SD needs to fill the other side faster with available players. That’s the main issue. It takes too long to find available players.

Also, if they would increase the bot AI to the highest level for the smaller side, then the balance would be much more even as the HARD AI bots are pretty f’n wicked with their shots and they DO go complete Obj’s.

I came up with an idea to have a Team Balance Vote. Each player is allowed to put auto balance to a vote. If it gets enough votes, the teams are divided for the next match based on Experience points.

(Cep) #4

I’d agree to that but I would limit it so that the vote can only take place once until a new player turns up. Otherwise it will be vote spamming r us.

(lobster) #5

A vote? Forgetting voting, team balancing is an essential feature for competitive games. You might enjoy giving one sided poundings to bots and a lone guy while you have 8 human teammates backing you up, but it’s not fun on the receiving end. These 8v1 matches just end with the humans pushing the bots and the lone guy back to spawn and proceed to spawn camp/kill.

(SinDonor) #6

No vote necessary, just make an auto-balance playlist/game mode type that is just like Public Standard except that teams autobalance every end of match or perhaps after each major Obj when the teams respawn or every 3-5 minutes.

Autobalance could also happen every minute or so after a system-chosen player dies. Instead of respawning with their current team, they respawn on the enemy team and a nice big bright message appears on their screen for a second which states: “You’ve been traded for a bag of tapir pelts!”

Brink is not CoD.

Yes generally being on a 2v8 team will generally mean you will lose, but thats not always the case. I’ve been in many games where my team is drastically outnumbered and we won due to using teamwork whereas the other team does not.

We don’t need Autobalance. What we need is the Bots to have scaling AI when the opposing team has more players. The greater the difference is between the teams in #s, the Harder the bots should be.

(wolfnemesis75) #8

Yeah, one vote per player should do it per match. And its not forced. Comes down to a vote. If enough vote yes, then the balance happen, otherwise, if its one sided still, that’s when you decide if you want to try another match elsewhere. The reality is that many enjoy playing in a party together at the expense of competitive balance. Lets be honest, its much more fun playing with your friends. That’s the main point. Hence, the vote.

(wolfnemesis75) #9

I’ve been on the receiving end. And its not fun, hence why I suggest the vote for Team Balance. Not sure where I said, no to balance. I just don’t think you can do forced auto-balance because players can just switch back to the team they prefer and many want to play with their friends no matter what.

if the playerbase is as ____ as you describe then a rebalance vote in 8v1 will be 8 against 1 for. Terribly effective.

No. BF puts you 2v12. It’s more complicated to change teams in BF than in Brink, but it’s still very easy. It’s even worse in BF because you don’t have bots to act as cannon fodders.

There should be no way of letting the players change teams during or between matches. Getting your friends together in the same team should be done before the game in a lobby, but we don’t have that unfortunately. The next best thing would be to change the ‘change teams’ button for a ‘ask to switch with someone from the other team’ button. The person you asked to switch with would then get a pop up message asking him/her to accept or decline the switch. That way, if you are unlucky and your friends gets stuck on the other team, there is still an option to get yourselves together.

(Sand0kan) #12

Yeah but if the game don’t split fire team it should work.

(wolfnemesis75) #13

Hot Tip: Alternate your vote between Defense and Attacking. If you want peeps to stick around, don’t keep selecting Defense. Don’t keep picking Attacking. People will quit if you do this or abuse the voting system or play tricks with the voting. Select defend. If you hold, now choose attack so that the other team can return the favor. If you keep choosing maps you dominate on and don’t select all the maps, peeps will quit.

The thing I don’t get is how the PC version of BC2 has auto balance/team shuffle yet the console version doesn’t, and both have dedicated servers. Console games should definitely pick up on having auto balance and team shuffle in their games.

(Ix LP xI) #15

Maybe in BF3? One can hope…

(H0RSE) #16

Well, BF3 is looking like ti will be BF2.5 of BC3.

(wolfnemesis75) #17

You can’t do autobalance in this game! Only way to do it is as a Vote. Even then, you’re hoping that the team that’s full wants to do it. It should not be forced. So, it is what it is. Team based games, ya got ta make some friends. Brink friends specifically. There’re some Brink clans recruiting, I get messages asking me if I want to join such and such a clan. If a party of 5 is together playing Brink and has 1 random peep on their team and there’s 1 player on the other team, why should it do Auto balance and divide up the party of 5? Makes no sense. This game fills up fast if you START with a party of 8. Find a friend!

(Ix LP xI) #18

Totally disagree. It think you are confusing BF3 with MW1.4

Multiplayer-only game, but no one is playing. SUCCESS!

Anyways, you shouldn’t have to be in a party of 8 to get an even match. If the game was popular, it wouldn’t be a problem, look at BFBC2 a few months ago when people were still playing it. Having a game not full was very rare. Look at Halo. I don’t have to be in a party of 4 to be in a 4v4 game (or 8 if playing big teams, etc.). Look at COD. You don’t have to be in a party the size of a full team to get an even match.

Brink suffers greatly from the lack of players. Add the ease of switching sides and people who don’t want to play offense on top of it and you have the perfect mix to get unbalanced teams.

Balance by a vote won’t work, especially when the pass percentage is set to 51% (ET:QW ranked).
Autobalance is better, but it’s crap when you want to play with your friends on the same team.

Maybe just disable the stats when 1 team has about >30% bots?

I don’t think it’s because the players’ stats are at stake. I think they just want to win to increase their e-ego.

They shouldn’t separate fire teams, like Halo does it’s best to not separate parties, but given the state of this game, I think it is a necessary step to ensure fair gameplay. It’s better for everyone, even for those who are on the team of 8 human players. If players are constantly spawn killed, they will stop playing the game and soon enough the player base will drop even more. Then, those 8 human players who think they are good at video games because they can spawn kill when it’s 8v2 will find themselves spawn killing at 8v0.
