Players not voting for shuffling teams.

(Thai-San) #41

I would vote yes if the teams are unbalanced. But if most of the shuffle votes come 2-3 min before map end just because the other team is a bunch of bad losers? No thank you F2 it is.

I see very few shuffle votes that are based on real team balance problems. 75-90% are “Oh, I can’t play with my clan member? Shuffle” “We couldn’t make this last push? Shuffle” “Second round stopwatch with 4 minutes to go and the enemy team is in the last part of the map? Shuffle.”

On a related note, I just saw a vote kick fail with 4 for and 2 against votes. How is that even a thing.

(wiski) #43

Something that could be done is make the vote more apparent on the screen. Most of the time I don’t notice that there even was a vote in the upper left until I see the message about how it failed.
I pretty much always vote for team shuffles but they rarely pass. If SD set it to where it had a minimum of 5 people voting and didn’t count non-votes as a “no” like it does not people would start voting a lot more often.

However, I still get the bug where it changes my merc from time to time when I vote which is highly annoying and could be why a ton of people simply ignore the vote. I know I’ve ignored it a few times simply for that reason.
EXACTLY!
This is what I said in a thread previously: http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discussion/18657/voting-system-the-absence-of-a-vote-does-not-imply-a-no/p1

The absence of a vote does not imply a no so why do X amount of players have to vote Yes for a vote to be passed?
That’s not the way majority rule works, it doesn’t account for the people who didn’t vote, only the people who voted.

I don’t want to harass or convince somebody to vote. If you don’t want to vote fine. Others can vote.

However with team shuffling shouldn’t be something that can be voted on without conditions because yes it can be abused.
I believe team shuffle should only be allowed:

 1. At the beginning of the game if the initial team balancing wasn’t good.
 2. When two or more players on the same team leave.

@Talak

This is not even the problem in my opinion. I’ve had a game today where two times we vote shuffled and both times passed. First time the teams got even more imbalanced and second time was literally just switching both sides with each other. Two things need to be addressed in my opinion:
-Counting non voters as a vote for the majority
-and improving the shuffle system to actually improve the game based on the current matche’s performance and not the ELO system.

(Talak) #46

I think what might help is if SD removed the win x number of rounds for execution and removed the daily win of the day and added those credits to the game type participation. It won’t stop it entirely, but eliminating the in game incentive for wins might help mitigate it.

Thank god I never played on your server in W:ET. It should always be left in the players’ hands to shuffle teams.
Quality players will be willing to shuffle teams anyway, of which there were many in W:ET, surprisingly.
Having said that, the option to vote is exactly why shuffling teams isn’t automated. Shuffling by mere statistics is often quite unfair to a few players who played a leading role in the domination of one of the teams.

(Talak) #48

I only ever shuffled the teams if I there was an imbalance in teams and no one switched or voted. I wasn’t a ghost admin floating in the air abusing my powers. I would always be the first to switch to the side that needed help and would ask other players to do the same which as you said mostly everyone in that game did.

Just had a vote to shuffle fail with 6 yes and 2 no votes.
Fix it Fix it!

I really don’t know why

A) the timer is so short

B ) the vote prompt is so tiny and hidden up in the corner

There’s circumstances where I just don’t understand why my entire team wouldn’t vote to shuffle. I get why someone on the stacked team would vote no but the people on my team? I don’t get it…

Also for unbalanced teams where one team has too many players, there should be some kind of option that says “teams are unbalanced, volunteer to swap?” and you get a random reward from some extra credits to an equipment case. At least that would incentivize people to swap.

In reference to above and keeping teams balanced, I also think there should be a reward for being the best player on the losing team to encourage people to stay. If the worst player on the losing team leaves, probably won’t swing things much. If the best player leaves the losing team is pretty much guaranteed a loss instead of potentially a last minute save.

Those changes are so needed. I’ve been preaching for months now that a system like Natural Selection 2 is needed, where if a team has at least two more player than the other, the last dying members of that higher player count team cannot spawn with the next wave, but have to either chose to switch teams or, wait until the next wave, where the next last dying players enter their spot in queue or simply that some other people joined the opposing team. This way you never end up playing with a player number imbalance.

Have never voted to shuffle, and never will.

Such a beta feature, instead of playing better these pathetic players just beg to be placed on the winning team.

Oh, you’re on the losing team? Harden the f*ck up and take the loss.

(tominatorx) #53

I always vote yes, because in my opinion the game should be fun for everyone.

+the fact that a game with 2 teams that are of (more or less) equal strength makes it a lot more satisfying if you win.

(almondChapter) #54

Today I was playing a stopwatch match and my team did very well. After the side switch, a entirely new group of high skilled, high level players jumped in and quickly caused us to lose an otherwise evenly balanced game. I saw two votes to shuffle teams fail. To be honest I’m not even sure how to vote and never see any sort of notification.

(tominatorx) #55

It’s in the top left of your screen right under the objective goal.

(Then F1 = Yes F2 = No).

(MarsRover) #56

Agreed. Honestly I would prefer earning 500 less for a chance of having less stacked games.

Bu to keep credit earn rate similar let’s just move those 500 credits to first game bonuses.

Yeah, let’s arrange a real life boxing match and have a heavy weight world champion face you and when you’re lying on the ground I’ll just tell you the exact same thing you said.

Unfair match-up is a thing. You can’t improve on the course of a single game up to the level of whoever is spawn camping you and your team. This is why team shuffling isn’t a beta feature only, it’s something needed. Especially when the game is player number imbalanced, like 3vs6.

There is losing because the other team is performing better than you and then there is being crushed because every single player on one team has over 100h of play time at least versus people with less than 10h.

@uWotm8-AU
Yeah, that logic works if this game had perfect auto balance system that was able to predict the future of how you were gonna perform… But it doesn’t, so unfair matchups is a (fairly common) thing. I don’t know abut you, but i don’t find being stomped with half the players of te other team very fun.

(OatmealFox) #59

I really don’t understand why not voting counts as a vote against. I think the easiest fix for this issue would simply be to have the system work so that if the majority of people who voted, voted to shuffle, then it shuffles.

(Lumi) #60

That’s what we have been asking for since ever and it seems all our requests fall upon death deaf ears…
