Play.com (United Kingdom Reseller)

Sounds good, haktrix. If you get fobbed off or mis-directed by Game, try asking for Kevin Fryers at Activision, and play on the ‘recommended reseller denying any promotion’. I got through to Kevin on + 44 (0) 203 0601000 which is the main line for their european headquarters.

Hi all

I found this post while searching to see if anybody else was having problems after pre ordering from play.com

I contacted Activision support (America) and they told me to contact the retailer.

I spoke to somebody at play.com who knew nothing at all about registration codes, so I updated the support ticket with Activision to tell them just that.

This is the latest response from them:

'Response (Russell Johnson) - 03/29/2007 10:37 AM

Hello. I apologize for the delayed response. I am trying to find out what is going on with this. I know that here in the US, that one our retailers is sending out an email with the registration code. That is coming directly from the retailer and not from Activision. I am looking into the way the international retailers, including those in the United Kingdom are suppose to be handling this. I should know something hopefully by this Friday(US / Pacific Time Zone) or at the latest Monday.’

I forgot I’d emailed UK Customer Support as well!

Here is their response:

“I’ve been told by the marketing department that the codes will start getting issued in the UK on April 3rd and links on the site should also be updated then. Play.com have been asked to send out a code to each of their gamers who have already pre-ordered the game”

Sweet Baby G! Nice one Gunsling3r!

(mr.erkle) #25

in the sameboat with play.com, reserved it about a month ago ( couldn’t resist ), no code …
BUT, looking around this evening did find that game.co.uk are pre-ordering ‘Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Premium Edition’ @ 39.99 ! although still no registration code…if it turns up anytime soon i’ll let u know.

(BondyBoy007) #26

has anyone received their codes/pack from play.com (or any other UK supplier)?

(CH4NDL3R) #27

Nope.

(yibble) #28

Nothing here either :frowning:

(grizzlybear) #29

we are all so cynical :o (but does game.co.uk justify our fears)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Enemy-Territory-Quake-Wars-PC/dp/B0009RW87M/ref=sr_1_1/203-8940531-0897524?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1175606333&sr=1-1 amazon has it as standard etqw

http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/1011934/-/Product.html?searchstring=quake+wars&searchsource=0
play has it as etqw Limited Edition Collectors Pack

game has it as etqw standard and etqw premium (even started pre-order on the xbox version)

prices seem similar appart from game /premium (!slap game)no info provided for the premium version tho

on a side note release date
as we all know the official line is it’s done when it’s done but…

amazon 23 may
game 25 may
play 15 june

why include amazon (not on the qw sellers list)
because they have had pre-order available since the game was first anounced and thats where i pre-ordered from

(Spuddy) #30

Well a slight title change at Play.com (Limited Edition added), but no code so far. :frowning:

(yibble) #31

Still some good news. I’m pleased they’ve done that, 'cos now I won’t wonder about missing out

(mr.erkle) #32

got this from activision today…

"Date 3 April 2007

Further to your correspondence of 2 April 2007

It is possible that the situation with codes has not been communicated effectively from GAME head office to the branch managers.

We have been told by our marketing department that the codes will start getting issued in the UK on April 3rd (today) and links on the site should also be updated then.

GAME and Play.com are the principal retailers who were selected ( as shown on the Enemy Territory website) to run the promotion of getting a code to reserve the gamer tag by pre-ordering the game.

The retailers have been asked to send out a code to each of their gamers who have already pre-ordered the game. They should receive these codes very soon.

Please try contacting GAME customer services."

very soon then…

just spoke with Katrina at Play (lovely irish accent btw), they state that the pre-order was put up too early and that they will be sending out the codes sometime next week.

(.Chris.) #40

I feel like phoning up myself now you said that.

Anyway good to hear they have sorted something out, I’ve also noticed my preorder been changed from standard release to the limited edition release which is good, saves me doing it
