pk3 strange problem

Hi everybody. I’m a French guy with a big problem !! :bored:

When I test my map alone in local there is no problem, and that’s ok for other people who tested like that too.

The problem appears on a server, when we want to launch the map…the server freeze !!!

I have no Idea about what it can be !! :???:

I just ask you if anybody has a solution for me.

I’ve hostet your map on my comuter (sv_pure 1) and connected with my 2nd ET installtion to it. I had no trouble with it. Can you see anything in the log files of your server?

Btw the map is huge but looks nice :wink:

I have no access to the log files of the server… :bored:

and I would to see if there is something in the console !!

One note though: the architecture looks nicely made, but on your screenshots I see manny repetitive textures… I’ll take a look some day to see if it matters that much when seen in-game.

The screenshots are just… amazing! Seldom a map makes me gaze at it with awe, but that’s what happened when I was taking a look at yours… It’s just fantastic! Huge and beautiful! Brilliant job, mate! :slight_smile:

Due to this problem…I can’t make a public version of the map.

Could it be that the file got corrupted during upload?
Have you tried to upload it again?
Not sure.
Haven’t got a server.

BTW nice looking map.

Sorry, I have no idea what it can be.
It must be something when more than 1 person spawns into game, but what?

I dont have an answer either but here are some things to try and also post back to us:

  1. At what point does the server lockup? Is this when you select the map, load the map or when a player joins the map?
  2. Do other maps work?
  3. How many maps are on the server (count & MB)?
  4. What is the server running? ET1.02, ET2.6, ETPro (version?)
  5. Can you upload a basic version of the map on the server without script?
  6. Have you tried to reupload the file to remove the chance that it became corupted? Alternativerly you could download it and see what happens.

Maybe try removing the non standard ET pk3 so that there are just pak1-pak2 on the server, along with your map and see what happens.

I agree that the screenshots do look really nice.

hi, i maybe found something interesting while checking your map on a hostgame:

since u cnt host games with newer etpro versions, i tried it with 3.1.9 and on simple etmain hostgame it runs.
but there are a lot of spots and areas to fix bad fps and its way more darker than your pics here :stuck_out_tongue: and its a little bit overscaled…

Referring to the #32 in the buffer section, your problem is probably due to remapping of shaders or the overuse of shaders.

trap_GetConfigstring( int num, char *buffer, int bufferSize )
int num: The config string to be read
char *buffer: A pointer to a buffer to fill with the config string value.
int bufferSize: The size of the buffer.

This is a server side callback used to get the value of a config string. It is only used once in the q3 source, by the G_FindConfigstringIndex function which in turn is used by the G_ModelIndex and G_SoundIndex functions.

How are you remapping your shaders ?
Does “textures/bergheim/sidegate” correlate to a shader ? (could be a warning to the problem and not the direct problem)

Yes I have at all 29 remapshader in the script. Yesterday lowlife notice me that it’s maybe that the problem. I will lower this number to 25. (I hope that the problem will disappear !!)
