my ping is 200 to 999 all the time on et i have a cable modem, i play in regions next to me but i think the problem is that my computer is not really built for gaming but its enough,also 1 time my ping was at 50 and this was good until it just skyrocketed to 897 then 999 uhh any suggestions, i have adelphia powerlink for a modem i use IE fo internet use , but recently every time i start it, it says send error report then i put dont send then my computer restarts for no reason but any suggestions on the ping cause its irrtatin to keep gettin pulled back by walls when u walk by them

Yeah that is INCREDIBLY important, but also what is the spec of your machine and what type of cable connection do you have (1/2MB, 1MB, 2MB) ?

I know many people hate doing it… but have you tried a reinstall of windows. I can get a clean install of windows in under 5 minutes (thank god for norton ghost) and it helps me out a lot. everytime my pc gives me serious errors that i can’t solve through normal means i do a clean install and the prob is solved EVERY time.
btw you’re problem doesn’t sound ET related. Do you have high pings with other games too?

I doubt its ET thats the problem. I would try using programs like trace route or ping plotter to have a look at ur ping if u can’t be arsed downloading them just use teh ping command in msdos-prompt ping a site or server that is near you. If the ping is high its more than likely your ISP’s problem. Although a fresh install of an operating system has solved a lot of my problems for me but the only time i’ve had connection problems its always teh ISP’s fault.

Well I have a piss poor computer to deal with but ET has been ok when it comes to ping…
I’m dealing with a:

GF3 Ti200
blah blah blah… fps is crap but my cable connection is ok so something else is amiss…

If not, even if you click on the little x in the right upper corner of kazaa it does not close. So you need to make sure that kazaa is closed by turning of the program another way. If you are uncertain go to Task manager and close it from there. Or look down in the right corner of your screen, there should be a kazaa symbol there. Right click on that and turn off kazaa.

You shouldnt close programs by task manger for Punkbuster reasons… allegedly 
Also disable the auto start up of kazaa from somewhere in theoptions

Kazaa does not close everything it opens when you close it from the tray. You could probably use a program like EndItAll to close everything that’s in your computer and you don’t need.
If you don’t really know how to manage a computer, try closing things one by one and writing down what processes you kill to see what crashes your computer and what does not.
