okay, so when I first starter playing ET i had a kick ass ping, like 25-50 usually. But now its weird. I’ll connect to play and start off at like 70 then 150 then up to 170 is average. after a few minutes of playiong it shoots to like 700 then to 999 and i get a connection interupted message.
i cant figure it out. it does it with other games as well so i doubt its just ET servers…any help?
Ping going nuts, any help?

OH jeez if this is true than i gotta believe its your connection and not the servers make sure you have the setting in ET applying to your connection i.e. dsl\cable\whatever if this happens at all times check out how fast your connection is when you get high pings with an online speed test to give youself an idea what it could be
sorry not much help anyone else?
Then we would cook cornmeal porridge,
Of which I’ll share with you
see thats what i dont understand, ive done that and my speeds are excellent. when i download or do a test the speeds are great but when it comes to games…what do you mean turn off the donkey?
Probably that you should make sure there’s no p2p programs running in the background.
hi
as you have this problem with many different servers, its most likely a problem with your isp.
if i ever have problems then i use pingplotter (www.pingplotter.com) this will give you a graphical traceroute from your pc to the ip address of the server of your choice -this ususally shows up bottlenecks.
online games dont really use that much bandwidth, they just need a low latency connection - in other words not much data needs to be transmitted but it needs to get to and from the server quicky.
most people use a rate setting of 15000 in rtcw/et for download and thats only 15k per second - 512k DSL is 64k per second…
packet loss from your isp will give you poor et performance but you wont notice it when downloading

thanks much. anyone know of a way to help this without changing isp’s? there is only one cable provider in my area and no dsl.
