Picking who wins the culprit case event

Anyone remember that one Steam sale where everyone was put into one of 4 teams, and the winning team would get a prize or something?

Anyone remember how the Steam subreddit tried to organise it so that every team would have te same number of wins?

Anyone remember how that actually worked until Valve totally changed how the system works?

You do? Good. This is what I propose we do for the Culprit case event.

For those who aren’t aware:

SO what is it I propose? Well, vote in the Strawpoll below which merc you most want to have the Culprit card. Then we as a collective community will see who has the most votes and as the event goes on, can… persuade the results in our favour.

Do you have any reason at all to follow this? No, not at all. Feel free to simply pick whatever merc you like the most. I just think that this will be a fun way to see firstly how much effect this one poll could have on the results of this event, and secondly to see if the majority community choice is better planned or just left to lady luck.

Hmm… Well if the majority of people want a particular merc it will win anyways. You can vote by playing the merc you want to win during their free week.

The other part of it is that they are going to determine it based on how much bring a particular merc, so you can essentially vote multiple times by playing a lot of rounds.

Also, the big reason that the steam event was controversial was because it forced people onto teams. Reddit wanted to make it fair and give each team a couple of wins. Nexon/SD isn’t forcing anything here so this type of poll feels like it is more for the nostalgia then it is to actually do something.

Also notice that the rules state that it is the merc most taken in squads. Not the merc most played. You can essentially ‘vote’ for 3 mercs per game during each 4 merc rotation. Or if you have 2 choices bring those 2 and 1 not in the list.

Based on stats SD has a pretty good idea who’s going to be in the top 4. Maybe they are even preparing skins for them beforehand :slight_smile: What I would like is to mess with them and make the most improbable top 4. Thunder, maybe Phantom, maybe Sawbonez - these seem to be much less used compared to the Vassili spam I see every rotation.

This forum and reddit are so insignificant compared to the whole playerbase that we’ll end up with something like Vassili/Proxy/Fletcher/Nader no matter what we do :frowning:

It’s gonna be one of the starting mercs, Proxy or Vassili anyways.
Also…How can someone who has all mercs unlocked know which merc is free right now? Will there be a notification, which 4 mercs are free for a week?

I think Skyhammer and Aura, by the explanation of that Twitter post how Culprit system works, won’t be counted in because…yeah, otherwise it’d be obviously either one of them being the most kept in squad.

That would also explain why they speak of “16 suspects” when we got 18 mercenaries.

Vassili Culprit card confirmed anyways.

If we, as a community, would try to influence the outcome like this, we would do best to pick a merc with the most viable and equal loadout cards. No use in picking Phantom or Sparks for example, who only have 2 good cards or so. Best would be to select a merc like Stoker who has multiple good loadouts.

The best thing ever would be there was 3 cards in the end of the event…The culprit card obviosly…but also special card for Skyhammer and Aura…since evryone has them from the start therefore even new players would get at special card to shine with.

Idk about you but im pretty sure most of the mercs have dones some type of criminal acts.

Aura and Skybro shouldn’t really be in the poll since they’re not going to be in any rotation, DUH. (18 mercs released so far, 16 suspects… hmm… I wonder who two would be excluded… ah, yes… the free ones!)

Anyboo, imma say Phoenix… just for the hell of it.

I voted for Phoenix, not because i like him, but because he -at least- got a set of good cards, so it will be less frustrating when opening case which i we can only have ONE. That card must be truly unique like the Beta Fighter one, so it worth somethings to grind for. Imagine how many people will be pissed if it just a re skin, i know i will.

There is nothing to indicate that this will be anything more than a reskin like CW/Wtd. It’s even less possible due to the timeframe involved.
