Phoenix Distribution System

(hck-dev) #1

Phoenix Client is a freeware content delivery system designed to handle any sort of downloads, including games, software, videos, music and others.

100% Legal Content

but we are still working on the GUI, we wanted to make the program functional first, and then move on to the graphics.

At the moment we have http download ready, it downloads files, it has an auto-update system that you wont have to download the whole game to update the game.

The future improvements are:
P2P, Friends Network.

all data is stored on a secure server with multiple mirrors on load-balancing, with our own transfer protocol.

Content Providers… You will have access to a special admin panel to track usage of your application, download and usage rates (statistics), have a mini-section in the applications storefront (link to forums, etc?) and also ability to have your application to appear in our server browser, and allow players to talk via an in-game friends network.

Once the application is ready, you will get beta logins (to the client), to see upcoming titles and features

Server is on a dedicated hosting, but the current site is on a free host, because we are currently in the process of migration.

This is a one-of-a kind opportunity for you as a content provider, we are currently talking to big names in free, legal, open source content providers.

looks cool! :stroggtapir:

So is this free to put content on (the client is freeware, but is the hosting of your application etc free)?

What are you aiming for in content from here? Mods and the like? I guess W:ET itself could go up if you were to get the relevant permission. Looks good anyhow!

How about distribution of quake wars maps. Or am i speaking to a bot again.
Quick check his ping. :bash:

(Darkfrost) #5

I don’t think it’s a bot, bots normally dont bother with sig/avatar/msn adress

(Defyance™) #6

lol not a bot, hes the lead gfx’er in the team, head over tot he site and check us out

(hck-dev) #7

many thanks for youre intrest in our project, the main reason for me posting, was to get permission to put W:ET onto the client, also will be doing mod and map distribution in the future, tnx.

and lol, im not a bot :stuck_out_tongue:

(iwound) #8

Prove it. How many fingers am I holding up.

Good news about map distribution, will be interesting to see what kind of speeds it can offer. Thanks for quick answer.

(hck-dev) #9

speeds are mental, i mean really. beacause the main server is running load balancing for ftp and http mirrors, and also theres a chance we might incoprate Bittorent, so the maps, files, games, etc. are spread around from each user.

But, i would like to put W:ET onto the client first, then mods and maps will be no problem.

So, Im Asking for permission from someone incharge. Or someone could point out some sort of contact information.

Looks quite sexy, though you seem to be in need of a Spelling Police team member :(.

I’ll prod some peeps and have them look at this thread

I’m surprised that Wils hasn’t noticed this thread yet (or has he?), I thought he spent all day on these forums. Hmmmm…

(Wils) #12

I’ve noticed it, but I don’t really have anything to say about a distribution system

id Software or Activision would be better contact for distribution if it’s neccessary. I haven’t heard anything of anyone being asked to take it off their download host, I sure hope it’s ok, we’ve already had 1.5 million dls of the game
