played him a lot he isn’t OVERpowered like some of you have said. In tf2 the spy invis is a true invis unless u walk into or near him u can really see him. Now for phantoms invis you can see him, its a shadow moving around or at you. Things that need to be tweaked is his shield. The shield should soak up only like 75%-%85 of damage not all of it.
Why iam saying this ? Well first thing he is an assasin and it has 120 hp thats same as the most combat mercs like Skyhammer for example , so its hp should have been equals to Vasili the sniper wich is 100 , second is its refractive armor , iam ok with the invisibility , but giving him invisbility + Imune or absorbing damage its ridiculous ive just finished a game 6 vs 6 and there was 3 phantom and they were literraly destroying the fun in the game , when you see them you cant kill them because they will kill you most of the times first , i dont know if iam the only one thinking this way but overwall he is over powered right now , every merc should have weak spots , but phantom ? Has 120 hp / invisibility / + extra armor from its special skill . Great . I`am enjoying a lot this game recently but pahtom is ruining this game , and if you go in 8 vs 8 and 4 of them are phantoms on a team , fun is ruined 100%
Phantom is too tanky, the ability to instakill is a laugh and shouldn’t exist in competitive gameplay other than Unreal Tournament instagib mode (and with gimpy squishy snipers which require aiming skills). Plus the ability to disappear means - HE chooses when to engage - not you. Thus giving him the upper hand all the time.
Honestly I don’t get him. What’s the point of introducing a class that’s basically given the stamina of a Rhino, deadliness of a sniper and a god damn cloaking ability? The class is out of balance.

Someone buys Phantom, plays for 3 minutes and becomes MVP just because of scoring kills… Nearly no objective, just focus on killing and having ~thousands of points in the end…

You can hit things when you miss with all melee’s, it is just extremely noticeable because of how big his range is compared to the other melee weapons. I have gotten a knife collateral on two proxy’s before WITHOUT phantom.
With how SD balances health vs speed, I really urge you all to take the time to consider the consequences if they dropped phantom to 90 hp. He’d be almost moving as fast as proxy or aura.
He’d be as fast as Proxy. Frankly that’s more scary than what he is now.
Crap like this does nothing. i’m sure by now that the devs are aware of the community’s reaction to the release of phantom. There are already at least 5 other threads for venting. you are not special in your distaste.
My argument why Phantom has no place in DB:
He and his archetype (roguey/stealth/instagib melee) brings nothing to the table for a team. The Dirty Bomb trailer itself promotes teamplay and not to go off on your own. What does a phantom do? Exactly that. Stealth behind enemy lines, melee’ing sparks, vasilli’s and bushwakers babysitting their turrets. Theres no teamplay involved. Theres no pushing an objective. The playstyle of a phantom PROMOTES lone gunmen(swordsmen) style of gameplay…not sticking with your team.
All mercs promote team-style play in some fashion, whether it be slight or not. Phantom promotes solo-player. Just stealth and kill.
I disagree with that, the reason Phantom is a lone wolf character is because that is EXACTLY what he punishes.
He’s like a safeguard, to force people to work together and not run off on their own, to make them afraid to do it.
He’s the spooky ninja samurai we deserve, but not the one we need right now. He is, the crazed butt stabber.
Also, for those of you who feel he doesn’t belong…tell me how turrets belong in a game like this, or mines, please enlighten us of how other classes belong but he does not. The reality is, he’s here, and you’re going to have to learn to deal with him sooner or later. If you love the game that much that you’re willing to come here and complain about it, surely you love it enough to learn how to deal with like we have every other merc since February.
Dirty Bomb is rapidly killing itself thanks to Phantom and their denial of how it is affecting the game (wait till a new Merc, Redeye is introduced is NOT a fix!
I have been watching the Steam stats board (I know it is not perfect, but is available for most to see). 12,000 players was high and amount of players was on a steady climb (perfect business model). Introduce Phantom, peak and a slide like the Chinese Stock market. Now 7,000 players and declining.
Remember what happened to DayZ Standalone Beta. Introduced a broken beta (which Nexon did not), and instead of fixing the many issues and glitches, Developers introduced blood types for transfusions, sugar/energy count in foods and pretty labels on cans. The old Hubris (overwhelming pride) of Developers of we know know what is good for game, not the players who pay us.

There’s a flaw with that argument, it only shows how many people are playing a game at a particular point in time. In other words, 13,000 is how many players were online at that point in time.

If anything the number of people playing isn’t declining, it’s still rock steady, and will likely continue to grow as more and more people start getting interested in the game.
Y’know, I keep hearing that Phantom is OP, but I never actually hear why he is OP, I seriously don’t believe it’s his shield because one heavy pistol shot to the head, or a few auto shots on him, break his shield/invis.
What I really think about the people complaining that he is OP is that they are bad, I really think that. I seriously am start to believe that the amount of bad in them clouds their judgement into thinking that Phantom is the one that’s OP.
They clearly never saw an Aura with a Stilleto and Chopper. Pft.
And I’m pretty sure that I saw a vid on the DB youtube page with an interviewer asking something about DB being something like a MOBA, which was confirmed later on if I recall.
Well correct me if I’m wrong, but in mobas, certain characters have other characters that counter them and so on, so I don’t see how this wouldn’t apply to DB.
And another thing I don’t understand is WHY.DON’T.PEOPLE.REALIZE.THAT.FRAGGER.EATS.PHANTOM.UP!
I played a few games as a Phantom only using my primary weapon, the kek, and I dominated. I didn’t need the sword. The players are just bad and they can’t see it.
I think I’m slowly losing my mind over the Phantom OP issue. Devs pls make it stop. Phantom is perfectly fine in my opinion. He is squishy enough, he is strong enough. Players need to stop being dumb.
