Phantom and his miserable melee weapons :(

Oh God … Oh SD why you always do this to me ??? This is the only Loadout for phantom in that humble bundle case … you should have placed a katana loadout instead of this beckhill knife loadout … What is so fun in this for you ppl … I can’t even Trade in these loadout …

                                   So i am gonna have the Phantom laodout with beckhill knife for lifetime .. Shit .. Come on developers i never asked you ppl to land a cobalt loadout in my wish but  you should place the powerdul loadout for mercs when it comes to special edition.. that too when it is gonna be the only type of loadout that is gonna be present for the merc. 
                                   I know the augments are pretty good but Phantom with no katana is something so miserable and i don't know why you ppl don't understand this .. this is actually fourth time i am facing this phantom loadout problem with no katana ( 3 useless cobalts and now humble bundle laodout)

I’ll never understand the fascination with people wanting to melee people in a game not designed around melee or using a character who was not designed to be a melee character.

This and the kek10 double time are the best loadouts for phantom if you can shoot ppl in the heads. Slow merc running around with huge sword getting wrecked by fragger back pedaling with k121 aimed at your head shouldn’t be desired gameplay. And same applies to proxy back pedaling shotguning your head too… and almost all the weapons and mercs to be fair… so … yep.

If you are able to trade your life by surprising one enemy merc with the stupid sword while the rest of them shoot you in the head it’s still not a good trade.

You’ve never been repeatedly raped by an Aura or Proxy with quickslash then. I was so impressed I decided to give it a go but I tend to overturn on the followup. It can be quite effective under the right circumstances/map. Chapel is a good one for that kind of playstyle.

Bomb squad on phantom is pretty nice. the reload-sprint isn’t bad either. 2 out of 3 isn’t terrible. The knife also allows a bit faster mobility over long distances. (although my issue with phantom is his cloak more than his melee weapon selections: coupled with his lack of team play)

It’s not very effective against people who are paying attention and can easily counter it. Sure, you’ll get some kills. But in most cases, assuming you have decent aim, you won’t be doing better than if you simply shot people. My point is it’s not optimal. Not even close. At least not from my perspective based on my experiences both playing as and against.

I know it’s not the way Phantom should be played, but no other merc has access to his Katana. And being his only melee weapon able to one shot specific mercs Is just too damn satisfying to settle for a beckhill Loadout.

@Amerika Yeah i understand what you say … when a meele is not that important then why SD never gives katana loadout so easily to ppl … why is the RNG being designed in such a way :smiley: This might be FPS game still Making a Meele kill in FPS game is the Real MVP skill :lol:

And if you see … Phantom was shown using katana for the whole time in his role call video :smiley: Why i am stressing here is when you hear Phantom the first thing you get to mind is Katana :tired_face:

Well of course it had the Katana in it. The Katana was introduced with Phantom and the Katana is a cool looking weapon. Of course they are going to show it off. I would have too!

But it’s not tied to Phantom (other mercs will get it) nor did they say anything about how you should be trying to be the melee/pistols only Phantom you see over half the time on servers that are about as valuable as the hiding Vassili’s. I played him for only a short while before I figured out that melee with him is a bad way to play and his true power was the shield absorb to keep from taking damage while going on flanking routes, get the first few shots in because I have time to acquire and fire back and they are only increasing spread. I kill and immediately evade and wait for CD and start over. His stealth, even on release, wasn’t what was valuable about him and neither was his melee. And both are even worse now than they were at launch.

To be honest…the loadouts from the crate are just like the ones from the bundle itself…one great one and the rest are kinda take em or leave em. Phantom isn’t the great one…

stealth is a lot better with the almost full invisbility when not moving, and very good invisibility when walking

Yup. I didn’t do a full breakdown of what I do when I play Phantom but just a highlight of one of how you use them and not even care about invisibility. My main thing with him is decreasing the amount of damage you take in a lot of situations and the ability to open up and hit first while also reserving the ability to retreat.

I got a cobalt of the perfect Phantom card with the katana loadout but he got broken not too long after that. Fuck. These nerfs still haunt me sometimes. Also I got the humble bundle one which I will never use. Katana is more fun.

C51 > C94, I swear Sneaky also makes your cloak less loud too. Maybe that’s just me.

But yeah, just as an example - this was from my first match today with C51, never used it before, felt so much smoother than using the C94 and the Enigma really helped avoiding all the heartbeat spam that game.

its easy:

  • jump forward next to the wall
  • wait until you are at the height of your jump
  • quickly spam walljump TWICE
  • crouch mid air to raise your legs
  • profit

common problems with jumps like these:

  • you make the first walljump too soon
  • you are too close to the front wall, bouncing of the front rather than left
  • you don’t crouch mid air fast enough

C51 > C94, I swear Sneaky also makes your cloak less loud too. Maybe that’s just me.

But yeah, just as an example - this was from my first match today with C51, never used it before, felt so much smoother than using the C94 and the Enigma really helped avoiding all the heartbeat spam that game.

I am pretty sure that it does decrease how loud you are. I know some people tested it a while ago and said that it did. However, I’ve never personally confirmed it. And I laughed pretty hard at how many snipers were in that pub.

@DirtyMerc I can feel the pain… Cuz I got that @$&@$@ card too, the most useless load out ever, this card neither for melee fight nor for gun fight, and Phantom own this $@)@"& card.
