it will be a server located in London UK on our own friggin good connection so expect no lag
People to play with, that’s all you need.
You can have any settings you want as long as you can get a few friends / clan mates to keep playing for prolonged periods of time then your server will succeed.
There is no such thing as perfect server. You will not be able to please all players under ANY circumstances since all players have there own choice.

I agree an etproserver is imo most fun to play on, but the etpro players in general aint active on pubservers in my experience, we have had such a server running for a long time and no one ever used it, so know ive changed to to almost what you wrote there, but as a slac server, its still running, and always empty
I see some of you are a bit concentrated on the word Perfect well i know 1 mans perfect server wont be the other mans perfect server 
afterall we have been running ET Servers for 8 years, and always quite a few. atm we have 4 running.
I would like to reduce that to 1 good server, of which i can see that im not the only one that thinks thats an ok server.
So if you take ETPro out of the equation, which mod is then best?
atm I have some nodownload servers running with a fev bots, mod etpub and jaymod, and there always a few ppl on, but damned its booring to play there.
I have my prefered maps, small an fast scrimmaps, but then again i also likes some of the big nasty maps like Minas and Helmsdeep (which is a Qubenet thing) after 8 years of ET, its the Custommaps that are making the most fun games for me

But for a small community like ours that cant have ppl sitting on servers 24/7 its almost impossible to get.
and recruiting these days is died completely for us also in et, so 1 good server we can enjoy gaming on

save ur money… the perfect server is all ready up at DRi
jk… there is no such thing as perfect server… people like different stuff and the once that like ur settings will stay and play there…simple as that. So go with settings u like and have fun with and im sure players will come.

Run the mod you like
ETpro, Jaymod, NQ, Silent, ETPub, Nitmod, Chaos, Vietnam, etc tons of mod out there
If you will enjoy your server you will keep paying for it and if you yourself can’t enjoy your server whats the point in running it?

The term perfect of good server are very subjective. each ET mod has its core of followers. IMO the only good servers are populated ones.
I for one love large slot Jaymod 50+ slots FF off (due to number of players) Adrenaline off (very gay) DJ on (goomba FTW) Restrict Heavy Weapons one each per team (flamer,panzer) fry the HD of anyone choosing mortar jk. xp save on but give the option for one to reset his own xp. Obviously large maps cant play adler or frostbite with 100 people.
On the other hand when I dont feel like admining I love ET Pro pub servers slac or PB a must. Usually the level of play is much higher and the focus is on the objective old school ET style.
I personally have all the voice chats muted via my config so I can hear footsteps and I dont enjoy vsay spamming. Custom skins are nice but add to the DL time and fill my pc with useless ****e
Finally I also enjoy on ocassion small (20 slot max) jaymod or Silent mod servers with FF on, DJ off, Adre off and all our old favorite competition maps.
P.S. dont forget the shameless plug for our gaming community. We have all different styles of server to cater to all gamers.

well thats the thing, atm we have 5 servers running with etpro, jaymod, and etpub, was hoping to get some ideas to change that to 1 maybe 2 servers made up on a way that many ppl seems to like, i know ofc that i can see on splatterladder or trackbase which are the most popular ones.
And finally Qubenet Gaming Clan has somthing not many other clans has around here, we have a sponsor, so we dont pay for servers, we have been getting what we asked for the last 8 years, no question asked. only thing we have todo is to use the name Qubenet and infact we <3 that name so np there.

I once had a jaymod server running and there were several “options” people could download from my website.
For instance you could choose to download the EUROPEAN STYLE mod and play with that, or not.
(replaces the original map textures with european style textures)
You could also download a hitsounds/killingspree addon .pk3 or not, female voicepack, female player models all as addons).
Also, certain vsays were only available for admins (everyone downloaded the soundpack, but the config would need to be downloaded by hand by admins from the website).
In short, people could adjust the server to their own likings to a certain degree.
Maybe you could consider something like that.
(Was running jaymod but the suggestions I posted work with every mod)
PS: before you ask, yes it was a pure server and only the “allowed” additions would work.
