People Need To Start Using Microphones.

(insightfulHelicopter) #21

90% of the time, people use mic to insult their teammates. The other 10% are people who gives really usefull instructions like “cmon guys”, “defuse the bomb”, “repair” YEAH NO SHIT SHERLOCK, and then, when we win, they think it’s because of their leadership and complex strategy. And yes, the percentages are accurate

@smartIsland I use TS with my mates but where not a full team so for people random in our competitive I still use in game voice chat to tell them locations etc.

(Backuplight) #23

The people I’ve heard using mics in game so far fall under the following categories:

Salty (33%)
“YOU GUYS ARE TERRIBLE. REVIVE ME. MEDIC. MEDIC. REVIVE ME. YOU’RE SO BAD. STUPID TEAM rage quits

Annoying (33%)
“Hello? Hello? Hello?”

Unintelligible (33%)
static cough kid crying in the background more static

Useful (1%)
“Two left side.”

I’ll stick to outside of game voice coms when appropriate, I think.

(ChunkySpark6) #24

@insightfulHelicopter I use it to give locations etc. I am not going to lie if my team mates are not trying at all or have like three snipers on one team I am going to complain and say come on guys can some people switch please.

(Nail) #25

and have them answer in Polish, Czech, LOUD GERMAN and Icelandic

(ChunkySpark6) #26

@Nail No everyone has to speak English my rule as I will not understand you if you speak another language lol :stuck_out_tongue:

[quote=“ChunkySpark6;14648”]When I play casual games like Objective around 10-20% of people actually talk.
Then in comp around 5% of people talk. Where in competitive team work is the ultimate goal on winning. This situation has got bad that I will not play competitive with at least two of my other friends cause at least someone will have a microphone on my team. I mean yeah for the people who do not have a microphone they could type like locations etc but nope this does not even happen. Something needs to happen to encourage people to talk. I have no idea how this could happen but it would be good.
Like some people do not talk because there concentrating and trying to hear bullets but like something simple like: ‘‘three guys coming on our left’’ or something like that would be good.

Are you trying to tell me that you did not queue in comp with a full team?
Do you have a death wish?

(Black) #28

Whelp from all the games I have played alot of people DO have mics, they just don’t use them for some reason.
Like there has been times where I never knew people had a mic until I revive them and they are just like “thanks” in the mic. Like wtf?

Also please stop making up lies, people who have mics aren’t just trash talking, insulting , or other.

(Borganism) #29

Ive had to turn my voice chat off because I came across too many kids yelling pointless crap. If I join the comp scene (once some better form of hacker control is enabled) then I’ll turn it back on.

(ChunkySpark6) #30

@favoriteKnife Fair enough that is valid point.

(XavienX) #31

Yea, about 20% of my matches I meet people with mics, but there is a reason why there is quickchat, even enables your character to say something. Competitive, I just play with my friends who have mics.

(LANshark) #32

honestly, i have a mic. I’ll start using it when I have something to say that cant be called out in v-2-2. Seriously people, drop ammo; I spend half my matches running back to the nearest ammo supply.

(KangaJoo) #33

Well if they had a proper matchmaking system that was elo based rather than whatever they have now (seems to be more xp based than skill based) it wouldn’t be as much of a problem since most good players that know how to play as a team will use their mic. Apparently, low rank players in CS:GO have the same problem but it’s fine once they rank up and start playing with people that are willing to put their shyness aside so they can win.

(RuleofBooKz) #34

a mic can really dampen a meditative focused state

(InvaderGir) #35

2tru. sometimes I get so focused when I hear someone’s voice pierce my eardrums I jump.

(General_Zod) #36

I use VoIP all the time. Vsays can get you by but I know it has helped in situations where for example the enemy team iddelivering an OBJ and everyone is oblivious to it happening.

Or with the ammo issue of people not dropping ammo sometimes saying username, I’m right behind u drop a pack of ammo. Back when playing et I wished it had VoIP built in and was glad qw did. More used it in qw than dB, but it would be good if some used it more.

I also liked how qw had the ability to lower game sounds to a set level while there was incoming VoIP.

Another thought I had years ago was that a lot of the vsays should be localized sounds. So if buddy asks for a medic and he’s all the way across the map, you don’t hear it, but if he’s right beside you, you’d hear it loud and clear and from the appropriate side/position.

Also I seem to get delays on vsays sometimes (not spamming either) I assume this is a bug but maybe others aren’t getting this.

First ask the developers to add some microphone settings. Right now many people sound really quiet and it is NOT their fault, there is no way to adjust it.

(sixten) #38

Have you never used a computer before?

(ChinChill) #39

A personal problem I have is that I’m not confident using my voice. 75% of the time people either start squealing about a girl being in the game or, if the match goes sour, say that it’s my fault we lost. It’s a bit of a pain but I stick with typing out warnings to my teammates when I die or thank yous when there’s a breather.

Not everyone can use a mic for various reasons. Mine’s just one example of many.

(Sorotia) #40

I don’t have a mic…but I’ll be glad to buy one once I receive the check in the mail
