People Need To Start Using Microphones.

(ChunkySpark6) #1

When I play casual games like Objective around 10-20% of people actually talk.
Then in comp around 5% of people talk. Where in competitive team work is the ultimate goal on winning. This situation has got bad that I will not play competitive with at least two of my other friends cause at least someone will have a microphone on my team. I mean yeah for the people who do not have a microphone they could type like locations etc but nope this does not even happen. Something needs to happen to encourage people to talk. I have no idea how this could happen but it would be good.
Like some people do not talk because there concentrating and trying to hear bullets but like something simple like: ‘‘three guys coming on our left’’ or something like that would be good.

For competitive yea.

Pubs? No.

Maybe a simple pointer, which asks if you have a mic or not. If you say no, it recommends you to get one every time you play. Annoying, yes, but it really destroy teamwork if someone’s sitting silent.

Yeah I see what you mean here @extravagentBypass like to help like have a system is when your searching a competitive game you choose can option saying do you have a working microphone (Yes/No) If people select yes then people will yes selected will but tougher more likely this would make competitive games more fun and ad more teamwork.
I mean yeah some people may not have a microphone and put no but still mabie around 60% of the time it will be a real answer making more people use communication in competitive.

im always mute who using microphones. voicechat commands are enough for important things i don’t wanna hear your teenage voice.

(ChunkySpark6) #5

@litheJacket I sound amazing  Some people do not even know how to use voice chat commands and + from my experience no one uses them.

I have VoIP disabled in game options. Now I don’t have to mute everyone! Sadly this means you can’t mute people and hence can’t mute voice chat commands.

Why people doesn’t use microphones.

  1. They don’t have any (like me)
  2. Their voice is squeaky
  3. You can barely understand them
  4. Too much background noise
  5. Underage
  6. Privacy concerns
  7. Might get teased because of their voice
  8. They’re going through puberty
  9. Embarrassed
  10. Shy/Nervous
  11. Feels Weird
  12. Ugly

OP, are you Australian?

I get this. I used to never use a mic. I was just too eh about it. Then I started and it was great, if I ever really need something done, a mic is the way to go about it. You might get teased, but that’s ok, at least you’ve got the balls to communicate properly.

Also number 12 is irrelevant, it’s mic chat not a skype video call. And if number 1 is the case, then tell your team, and say I will try to type/use voice commands, etc. It’s at least trying that’s ok.

I like using voice commands, and I already have some memorised, the biggest problem is the anti spam filter. If I ask for ammo, then I get some, I have to wait three seconds to say thanks. Kind of annoying, I would prefer if they removed the three second cooldown, instead made it one second, but kept that 15 second cooldown if you spam too much, and only have the three second cooldown for global chat. This means you can still communicate, as long as you aren’t spamming or talking globally.

You can hear ugliness.

At least in .eu, imo the problem nowadays is, the new players flooding? the servers, mostly seem to be the same kids playing CS. They have mics, but want don’t use it.
You can tell by trying to give advice in voicechat, and in return, getting called names in eastern languages. Same kindergardenkids.

The day I use public voip is the day… well, it will never happen.

(RuleofBooKz) #13

hahaha

(LifeupOmega) #14

See, I notice people don’t like using their mics on public servers, but once communities happen people are more inclined to talk - as they know the people they’re playing with and its a far more comfortable situation. This happens in every game I play, but the thing DB lacks are community run servers.

Pfft… Last time in competitive i used my mic and got this response ''Hurrrr hrrrr Chewbacca sounds Pfft pzzzzz …

(smartIsland) #16

Prob most players in competitive are teamed up and already using mumble, teamspeak, etc

(Bu5hmast3r) #17

On comp matches a mic is very helpful. In Bf4 teamspeak makes very great matches instead of dumb running around. Anyway. Using Voip in Dirty bomb and Pub matches results mostly in insulting each other. So its not so helpful at all.

And yes… the squeakers are annoying too.

(Knives) #18

I rarely use my mic in the pubs because of being self conscious of my voice.

(watsyurdeal) #19

Yes please, I’m tired of calling shit out and not hearing a single fucking God damn response.
