People alredy wallhacked your game...

Im not saying that the cheat isn’t there, Im saying that if a cheat should become remotely widespread, then evenbalance will know it within hours (minutes).

A cheat can’t become widespread, because there are too many ppl reporting to pb.

On the other hand it doesn’t ban cheats reliable. I have seen a friend playing cs who used several cheats on a pb enabled server.

PB does ban cheats very reliably. The problem is, that cheaters are always making new versions which OB has to know about for them to be bale to prevent. Which is thw whole point of several of the prior posts - if it becomes widespread, it’s more likely to make it’s way to evenbalance who will then add the code to block it.

As for CS, cheats are widespread in the CS community because the makers of HL/CS refused to give evenbalance any compensation or funding for their efforts, so PB is no longer updated for them.

Beleive me when I say PB is the best thing to happen to Wolfenstein. Without it, cheaters would be bringing down our community just like they are with others.

Erhmm this has been working for weeks, at least 2 weeks…
I got it from a forum, where it was posted 2 weeks ago and it still works !!!

Lol, open your eyes, this one can be downloaded from many places, you can’t ignore it…
If you choose to belive that cheats can’t get widespred, thats up to you, but you will only fool yourself…

There is always a possibility that they will get widespread, but that won’t
be avoided by panicking like I see a lot of players doing, in fact it will only ruin the game, because:

  • The spread is worsening by giving it a lot of attention, only EB has to know about it. I fail to see why anyone else has to know about this cheat.
  • A lot of publicity will hamper the influx of new gamers
  • Every idiot will now start a witchhunt just because he is either jealous, paranoia or is taking this game way too serious, making the game pretty much unplayable for a lot of players.

Bottom line is: EB has to do something about it really, really fast (if they haven’t already).
And something to consider is: how many of you knew about it before this thing came in the news? Yes, offcourse everybody can find it now. But how many knew about this wallhack several weeks ago?

In my experience the best thing to do is to never publically talk about it. The suspicions ruin much much more than the actual cheater does. Very few people actually notacibly cheat, in 3 years of Quake3 I’ve come across a handfull. Not to say they aren’t there, but the impact they have isn’t that great. Ignore them and play your game.

Cheats are uncommon, odds are what you’re seing is just a good player.
And a good player will be damn close to a wallhacker or aimbotter because he has learnt how to play the game, he listens, he anticipates, he knows. He doesn’t need the wallhack because a good player already knows where you are and where you’re going and what you’re going to do. That’s what makes him a good player. He then uses the aim that hundreds or thousands of hours of game time has given him to kill you. This is where a lot of people cry foul. If 3 years ago I played myself at the skill level I am today in Quake3, I would been convinced I was cheating, no one can move that fast and react that quickly! But, hundreds and thousands of hours of practice does improve your aim and skill a LOT.

So if you do suspect someone of cheating, get the proof first. Spectate him, turn your sound way up and listen, record a demo, watch him play, get condumps of PB alerts, get screenshots of him doing weird things. Odds are you’ll actually see that he pays attention to the hundreds of details that give him a upper hand and a cheater-like appearance. Don’t accuse them without proof. The whining and witch hunt causes more harm to the scene than the actual cheater does.

Sidenote:
I’m in the same fireteam in that screenshot above (I’m FldOp fallen if you hadn’t figured it out) and I don’t remember the wallhack guy standing out at all, Hamster had the lead and I was in second place, Wallhacker guy was somewhere way down. Point is, even if you’re a cheating newbie you’re still a newbie, cheating won’t automatically give you the lead or make you godlike. A decent player will still bring you down.

I’ve seen my share of wallhack cheaters in regular vanilla RTCW. It’s pretty easy to spot them if you’re paying attention. Spectating someone using a wallhack cheat is a no-brainer. Usually when someone is found to be cheating on the servers I play on, you make sure everyone knows about it and most of the time the cheater either disconnects pretty fast or a lot of the non cheaters drop out - either way, the cheater is left pretty much out in the cold.
