PC Population

[QUOTE=Kurushi;351354]I could expect this on the console version. Brink is quite a twitchy game, movement is essential, playing on a pad really cripples your movement - it’s not half as fun moving around with a pad.

Without the freedom and speed of mouse movement I can see why people would believe Brink to be like any other shooter.

I’m not trying to start a mouse vs pad debate but Brink was clearly developed with fast aim and movement in mind. Brink’s still okay on the consoles but a lot got lost in translation[/QUOTE]

Yeh, but its the same with all fps’s, theyre all better player with a mouse. Brinks gameplay suits a mouse just the same as many other fps’s, theres nothing special different comparing brinks pc/console control to other fps’s pc/console control .

Thats got nothing to do with the amount of copies traded in, its the game / devs itself.
Considering the amount of ppl on steam playing in the first week to now and having the option to ‘trade’ their game in it would be traded in just as much as the consoles,
N the fact that many ppl still own the game on steam and hardlh any of them play it, it shows how much ppl either dont want to play it/ dont like it/cant play it due to tech issues/ dont want to support the devs/ dont want to support the game

(nick1021) #102

This is not a twitchy game. Have you even played Quake live?

(NigelDocker) #103

Yeh lol as fps games go brinks not specially twitchy, well its not even a ‘twitch shooter’ as they call it (like COD) its not even fasted paced, which is good, i dont like twitch shooters.

(Kurushi) #104

I’m not talking twitchy in the snap aim sense, I’m talking fast combat and rapid change of direction. On the whole Brink is a very fast game that resembles quake more than you think.

This is why Brink is different on a pad - sliding, pulling off 180s and other SMART moves (not to mention default fov :/) can’t be strung together anywhere near as easy on a console.

The standard of movement of most players isn’t good enough yet, so I can see why you can’t see why there’s not much difference

I’d just like to chime in here about the mouse interface for Brink. Usually when I play a FPS game for any length of time (say 4 or 5 hours a day) my mouse wrist starts to hurt. Since playing Brink I noticed my wrist hasn’t hurt at all. Not sure if it’s the default mouse sensitivity making it easier to turn or the objective wheel pointing me in the right direction or the SMART system requiring less jerking the mouse around.

Whatever it is, SD really did something right with the mouse interface for Brink.

(nick1021) #106

It’s not rapid change of direction. You just move as a mob together in one path. Most of the time we just trap the enemy in their spawn and laugh.

(Kurushi) #107

You’re very short sighted when it comes to Brink aren’t you

(nick1021) #108

No. I don’t see some magic in the game like you do. You just take the same path to a place so you can spam the X button. Die. Respawn. Repeat.

Brink isnt a very fast paced game, its sloeer paced than many other fps’s
And playing on the PC to a console is just the same as any other fps in terms of being limited compared to using a mouse.
Theres no problem with the movement on consoles, it works for the game, it just better on pc [obviously] like all other fps’s. It doesnt make it have a change in gameplay on console to pc comparison, nothing more than any other fps games anyway.

Looks like another 3 years of playing with a very small community.

And it’s faster than other FPS’s. Would you believe it? That doesn’t make it slow

I can’t think of any other multiplayer FPS that has Brink’s movement or speed on current gen consoles. Care to enlighten me, or should we just keep it on topic?

(nick1021) #112

Brink is slow. CoD is fast. BFBC2 is slow in the begging and picks up.

(xTriXxy) #113

66 PC players worldwide online now. brink is not even on the steam stats list at the moment.

(Kurushi) #114

CoD fast? Enough said

(nick1021) #115

You can stop hating CoD. Yes the game sucks, yes it’s dumb. But it still is fast (you spawn and die in seconds).

It’s like saying there aren’t guns in CoD just because you hate it.

Who ever said the game was slow paced? I didn’t… dont think anyone did. I just said its not fast paced, and it isnt

Gameplay with a heavy is very slow paced, medium gameplay is slower than many other shooters, and light gameplay is not exactly that fast = Brink is not fast paced

By movement or speed what do you mean… if you mean speed as in running Brink’s is slow, even as a light. Brinks movement altogether [not just considering light… thats only a small part of brink] is slower than your average fps.

feel enlighten’d

You didn’t answer my question and now I’m bored of your contradictions, so we’ll leave it at that

Kind of already did answere your question

"Gameplay with a heavy is very slow paced, medium gameplay is slower than many other shooters, and light gameplay is not exactly that fast = Brink is not fast paced

By movement or speed what do you mean… if you mean speed as in running Brink’s is slow, even as a light. Brinks movement altogether [not just considering light… thats only a small part of brink] is slower than your average fps."

But if your a bit slow, here you go;

As a game altogether [not just lights, even just lights are slower speed/movement compared to the likes of Crysis]

Crysis 2 [by a margine]
COD
Duke Nukem forever
I could name a couple more but cant think of any atm
Arguably other fps’s like Killzone and Ressistance which have both faster movement and speed than the heavy and medium body type. and thats more than half the game

brink isn’t fast paced lol, its not meant to be

A fast paced game is also more chaotic with people moving around the map and the battle moving around the map quickly, and people scattered about the map, Brink is the opposite, its typicaly a battle in one place which then slowly moves onto another place, whihc is good as its different, and isn’t fast paced…

(Kurushi) #119

lol man you need to learn when to give up

(NigelDocker) #120

Lol you need to learn what a fast paced game is
