I was curios on how big BRINK is on PC I was thinking about getting it via Steam but I’m only interested in it if the PC multiplayer population is big enough.
PC Population
Not real large. But the game is light years better on PC. Especially running anything beyond 70 frames per second with a high definition monitor.
Seems so. The best thing to do would be to befriend some folks here, if you don’t have a 3 or 4 friends already on Steam playing BRINK.
Spend Love and Jimmy James are cool dudes. You can find me on Steam “I’m Hit!”
i think once the DLC hits and the stats page goes up, the PC community will be bigger.
But I’m sure that comment will bring the BRINK haters in to tell me how wrong I am and that BRINK sucks.
Theres a peak of around 800 or less these days, and for the most of a 24 hour days theres less than 400 on, look at the steam statistics page. for community and sheer numbers playing I would say console is best bet (if you dont mind crap graphics)
Ask a few people on these forums they’ll post you daily screen shots of the player counts - but don’t let that put you off.
Brink’s a game where players are hiding in the woodwork and that’s not a bad thing. You will always get a public game don’t worry about that, but I’d say the vast majority of people are players that hold back for organised games so they can play people that are prepared to use teamwork.
I think it’s a matter of quality over quantity. If you’re looking for a quick game it’s far from perfect - but if you’re prepared to put time into getting good teams together, you’ll enjoy yourself more; it’s that kind of game.
tl;dr It’s no CSS but you can always guarantee a good game
If you ever get to the point where you want to compete or have an easier time organizing matches with friends then you may want to go PC. I know 2 people building new rigs just to play BRINK after spending dozens of hours on the console version.
A lot of people were sold on the cinematic trailer. But I was sold on this trailer from the BRINK TV day 1 launch. I had the game by the time this aired(came out day after I purchased). But I was sold. The video is so exciting to watch.

Very well said +1
Your question ; is the population stable?
No, only a month or 2 been out and its this low already, just going down and down in players as the days go by
Unfortunatly

Read Kurushi’s prophetic statement. It explains or gives a very good speculation for why there are not a lot of players online all the time. BRINK is best when you organize matches with friends. It’s actually like a completely different game. Much of th PC community is organized. Its not massive no. But its committed and strong.
He asked if the population is stable, unfortunately Brinks is anything but, going lower and lower in players everyday and already this low after a month or 2 is not stable. Jus answering his question, that is what he asked and wanted to know

According to BRINK TV you may be right. The last ESL Competition had over 200 teams (not players) sign up for the tournament. It was a massive tournament!! You can see the whole tourney on their site thebrink.tv!
So yeah I think organized play with friends and clan/teamamates is really where BRINK has slinked off to. The community is more enjoying playing with folks they know, and who they know will play as a team.
I know I try to play with friends. Those are always the most entertaining matches.
Wait for a steam sale since there’s no demo. I think your like for the game is going to have to compensate for how dead it is becoming.
Good advice about the sale. Even couldn’t bring myself to spend full price on the pre-order. I got it at direct2drive.com. They may still have it for $37.50
Can buy it here for £10 sooo many 2cnd hand copies, get it new for £20 in amost of shops
Game is pretty much dead on PC, despite what any might say to the contrary. Any new game that has/averages fewer players then Homefront (another new title pretty much dead) is quite simply defunct and out of commission. There are games out that are several years old, with several times the population of Brink servers. Hell Killing Floor has several times the players that are playing Brink.
At any rate, I have taken our servers offline, and am no longer supporting this dead title. No DLC in the world will revive this game.
Shouldn’t you just wait till the DLC comes out and see how the population is then?
Right now the game is dead.

Who’s to say player counts decline then never increase? Brink sold A LOT of copies at launch and it hasn’t sold to half the people that want the game, trust me.
PC games have a long shelf life, they grow over time and numbers will rise. Comparing a game years old to something only just getting started isn’t a fair comparison. Things get better with age on the PC - at least with a game as young as Brink
