pc over console?

(xS m o k 3 z) #1

Ive been hearing a lot of talk about the PC version of brink and not so much of the xbox 360, sadly. I’m a big 360 player at heart but seems that their focusing more on the PC version and all these extra programs for the PC. I’m just wondering for me and all xbox 360 players, if this game is going to look good for competitive play on the console as well as on the computer?

Assuming you are serious, you have nothing to worry about.

You get what you pay for. People who choose to buy/play console games over PC, have no problem sacrificing versatility for ease of use. All those “extras” are what PC gamers love about their games, while console gamers are content with the retail product and the occasional DLC.

Competitive play can exist on any platform - it’s just that it tends to be more supported, in-depth and elaborate amongst PC communities.

5 cents that this thread will derail big time before the end of the day…

I can understand why you guyz want to compete, but I fail to see how choosing a console is the best solution for competition, its like if you had the choice beetween a F1 and a kart, would you go for the kart?

Yes the kart is easier to use maybe, but in the end the better sensation and achievments are made with the F1…

God why do I keep making these analogies, its full of ****e but you got the point I guess

Peace

These forums are very PC centric due to our history of previously releasing only PC titles.

For Brink, we have the experience of making our PC games, but also have brought onto the team people with cross platform and PS3/360 exclusivity development experience. We want the game to kick ass on every platform we put it out for, simple as that.

The forums also tend to be watched on pc’s most of the time.

What is being said more specifically about the PC then on the console versions?

What I DO know is that we get to see the Xbox controls everytime.
Not to mention there is a private beta for the ps3.
To my knowledge I haven’t heard anything exclusive for PC?

EDIT:
to answer your topic question:
HELL YEAH!!

(engiebenjy) #8

The real question here is if you have both the F1 car and a kart which one would you use?

Both… because my mates all have the kart

He said the FORUMS are pc centric, which true, the stuff that is being released to the media however is very pc concentric.

approx cost for new car

year old ones go for around $1,000,000 to selected buyers

Thanks for the replies guys! Just wanted to make sure Splash Damage was focusing on the console gaming as well, I never doubted Splash Damage for a minute. There was just more talk about the PC and it is good to hear that there will be plenty of competitive play for the console as well. Can’t wait for Brink to release on Spring of 2011!

Btw for the F1 to Kart topic, I’d probably go with the one I can afford

if you say so

PC is OVER consoles, right.
thats what actually we had.
end of discussion.
ie, Over it

I’d like to say that i would pick a mario kart over F1 because even tho it doesn’t go as fast it can pick up a blue flying turtle shell (in my mind the red shells are not nearly fast enough) and total the F1 which cannot just be flipped back over like the kart.

Gaming laws of physics for the win!!!

(This has nothing to do with the console vs pc i just wanted to take a stand on F1 vs karts)

I think innovations like built in blu-ray, netflix steaming and motion control gimmicks like Wii and Kinect are the only things keeping consoles a float. Computers are more powerful, more customizable and more exact gaming platforms than consoles and the economic bridge between them is getting smaller and smaller everyday. It will probably be another 30 years before they get phased out completely but consoles are dying.

Anywho, Brink on PC for me of course. For those of us who have computers to run it, it’s a no brainier.

imo the only thing keeping pc gaming afloat is the lack customization and freedom on consoles. and i’m a big pc gaming fan. but if i could buy a gaming console where i could plug in my input devices and get identical performance from them and do everything i do on a pc on it bar things that are too demanding for its hardware, while having virtually every videogame that comes out in the next 5 plus years engineered to run flawlessly on my consoles’ exact hardware and at a fraction of the cost of a new gaming pc, i would have a very hard time justifying buying a new gaming pc over it and i don’t think i could.

(Crytiqal) #20

Exactly. PC specs > console specs.
If they’d put more then 512MB Ram in the PS3 and put in 4Gb then I might reconsider. The other consoles tho (Xbox and Wii) can’t even compare with a pc.
