As part of the terminal work-in-progress that is the ET advanced server guide, I’ve scribbled up a peice on Punkbuster cvar restrictions for Enemy Territory.
The purpose is to develop an optimal set of restrictions, explain why the restrictions are needed and explain why some other cvar checks frequently used are not useful or may even cause problems unnecessarily. It’s exploded into a rather lenghy and bloated article, but it attempts to provide detailed explanation and background for common misconceptions regarding cvar “tweaking”, and needed to address a wide range of attitudes and views on the subject.
It’s not perfect, but thats what the “comments” section is for. Just dont bother with the “tweakers = cheaters” crap, looking to eliminate exploits only.
