TY  for posting, I have been waiting for this q&a

Will SD be at QuakeCon '07?
Question from The_Happy_Friar
Absolutely! We’ve attended the last seven QuakeCons, and they continue to be the highlight of our year. We’re hoping to bring even more Splash Damage staff this year. You can look forward to ETQW competitions, tournaments, mod-making presentations and round-tables – perhaps even a few matches against the id Software and Splash Damage teams.

We now know it should def be out before then.

What are the system requirements looking like? I would love to get upgrades just for this game, but looking at other detail-intensive games and their requirements, shelling $1200 in upgrades isn’t appealing at the moment.
Question from Drunkenlobster
The minimum system specification won’t be finalized until performance optimizations are complete. However, we’re targeting a platform similar in specification to the Quake 4 system requirements.

The more thats compatible; the better for the community, this is good news! People, upgrade if your in question

I could go on quoting the info from this q&a but I think the conclusion will be SD is da bomb and we will all be rewarded for the long wait. Again thx to the OP

Pretty juicy interview…

I knew zinx had been up to something!

Yes. In addition to the newly launched community website…

Hrmmm???

made the renderer more extendible by allowing people to write custom hardware shaders and seamlessly use them from materials.

This was brought up in the what do mod teams need but noone followed up. GLSL? CG? How is this different from what’s been in d3/q4? are there new interfaces exposed in C++?

(madness) #7

So he really did change his name, huh ?

Nice interview…

We don’t have a date yet, but the work has been going well. Aspyr has started working on the OS X version of the game and they have it running already. Timothee Besset at id Software did a lot of ground work on the Linux platform and this is benefiting the OS X platform. zinx is helping Timothee with the Linux binaries, so we expect to have the Linux dedicated server ready when the game ships.

Ahemm… and how about Linux client? Will it also be aviable when the game ships? :poke:

All this new info is very good, love the screen shot woo!!

What I would love to know abt is the surround sound, ive played games
before and the 3d sound has been crap to say the least, im hopin that the
surround sound in this game has been sorted?? :twak:

Timothee has said before the Quake Wars should be much the same as Quake 4 regarding the linux build
