Release additional maps as part of general game updates. Keep all the additional levels, items, gear as DLC. This keeps people from being split up and also serves to advertise your DLC content to those who don´t have it (getting owned by overpowered DLC abilities etc). You might have to beef up the items and gear included but it would be the best way of keeping your gaming community together while releasing DLC.[/QUOTE]
This is the way I hope it goes. I’ll be happy to buy any DLCs for a reasonable price but I’d like to be able to still play with people that don’t have the DLCs.
A bit off topic: @IncubusDragon What in the hell is up with your text size? I imagine you wearing coke-bottle glasses with your nose touching the monitor.

people will get it free or pay regardless, the view that this would split the “community” is ridiculous insinuation, the current community are hardcore players, and they will get it free, those that don’t can pay 5 dolars, few wont have it and they can deal with it.
Because the DLC is Free, even if it were only for a day, it’d get a ton of traffic. 2 weeks should be enough time for current players to get the new content onto their systems. after that, let the ones who don’t have it decide if its worth paying for. makes no sense to worry about them, you have no control over that.
It does make sense. These new people will come in, realize you have to pay real money for needed DLC, that is if you want to experience all the maps which most do, for a game that is more dead than W:ET and TF2, both of which are free and have so many maps/mods. Hardly any of those people will put forth the money to buy it and they’ll probably just end up quitting, so the community will shrink even more because no one new comes in to play.
There’s 640 people on BRINK at the moment; that number isn’t going to go up with paid DLC.
Yes it will, although it will be hard to destroy it any further than the devs are already doing by not speaking with their community
Like other people said: if it means more content then I couldn’t be happier!
Existing players will buy the content, myself included - people don’t realise how many man hours go into one map - it deserves every penny but I have to agree it’s quite off putting for new players when they realise they can’t play certain maps but I expect the DLCs to be bundles as incentives for new buyers anyway.
Put simply, I’d always rather pay for quality content (maps) over trickled out free crap like weapons, lame gametypes hats etc
