[OUTDATED] Phoenix recap

So the merc role call was released and for those who for some reason didn’t understood what Shoe was talking about here is what Phoenix will be.

  • Health: 100
  • Speed: 430 (Thanks for @Sprix for correcting me on this one)
  • Class: Medic
  • Primaries: Hochfir SMG, Crotzni, Kek-10.
  • Secondaries: Caulden, M9, Selbstadt .40.
  • Melee: Beckhill Combat Knife, Stilnotto Stiletto, Cricket Bat.
    Primary Ability: Healing pulse, Heals everyone including Phoenix in a certain radius for a set amount of health (depending on how long you charged the thing) Note: Can charge while running. Cooldown: From 6 to 20 seconds.
  • Secondary ability: Self revive, As long as you are not gibbed but down you can revive yourself Nuff said. Cooldown: 1min.
  • Third ability: Defibs, Revive teammates in an Ok do I really need to explain this? Thought so.
    Augment available (not full list but from what I saw): Quick charge, get up, chopper, drilled, cool, potent packs, healing reach, mechanic.
  • Strategies: Phoenix is a better healer then Sparks but a shittier healer then Aura, I would say he is kind of in between Sawbonez and sparks since to get 100% potential out of that you won’t be able to defend yourself for a few seconds and his healing pulse has pretty short range, unlike Sawbonez’s health packs which can heal (if thrown correctly) at even medium ranges.
    His self revive allows him to survive if killed a proxy and her mine triggered and instead of blown to pieces you were downed, survive being on the mounted MG, getting bodyshotted from a Vassili across the map etc. Just remember that most players in this game gib when they can so I won’t trust on this ability that much.
    I won’t talk about the defibs since why should I.
    His weapons make him short-long range merc but if you can you will probably be able to get long range kills just don’t rely on your weapons as much on long range.

One thing I want to know is if the healing pulse will go through walls. If so that could be HUGE for some strategies.

@Amerika I think it is going to be like Aura’s healing station, you can see the effect through walls but it won’t heal.

I haven’t played much of a closed beta (I was kinda confused back then), but I think the pulse is different…they reworked it, did they?

Looks like it, from what I could tell from Hexa Flexa’s gameplay it looks way more powerful now. Very risk vs reward sort of thing.

Added possible available augments (I’m not completely sure about mechanic but Sawbonez has it so why wouldn’t Phoenix)

I have no idea where i heard he could’ve had timik, but damn was i hoping for a medic with an assault rifle. Maybe it would’ve been a tad silly

Joking aside looks interesting most def the next 50K gone. Would have prefered it tho if the SMG-9 was an option. But Crotzni/Kek-10 will propably do.

Will be one annoying merc tho, I predict several griefing treads. Both because of the mobile healingstation and the “thats bullshit I had allready killed him, revive”.

That is my guess too but you never know exactly how it will work until you test it.

Also, he’ll definitely be useful near the lower gun by the bomb sites while defending the last objective on terminal. A lot of teams put a medic there because if they go down it’s harder for them to be gibbed due to falling behind a barrier. Now Phoenix can man it and self-revive when needed.

I also wonder if revives will cancel his self-revive. For example, if I start it up and I get revived by another medic will I get a CD on my self-revive or will it instantly cancel and save the CD? I’d imagine it would cancel the revive and save the CS but I guess we’ll have to find out on that too.

Seems a bit too powerful for me, medics are supposed to be squishy with not a lot of combat capability, Giving them an AR will kind of break that rule and the only exception to the rule is Sawbonez and who knows maybe even Phoenix.

That would be borderline (if not full blown) OP I believe… I allready make some long distant kills with the crotzni on sawbonez, and the crotzni is an awesome weapon, so a dude with a M4 or timik who could heal himself and others and rez downed players?
And yes I’ve dream about it… >:)

edit: crotzni, kek-10 are already beasts. Phoenix will have both. Even Aura has the blishlok which packs a hell lot of a punch. Only Sparks has not much firing power and I still get killed by some Sparks… Nah really medic don’t have any firing problem in that game.
